The Witcher S2: Geralt Uses Signs While Fighting A Myriapod

The Continental war is not all that will plague the lands of The Witcher. A new clip reveals Geralt sparring with one of the show’s many new monsters, a Myriapod.

The Myriapod is a large, ugly centipede look-alike. They’re not rare, but as with many monsters in the current Witcher timeline, they haven’t been seen for a long while.

From the clip, it does seem like Geralt is struggling to hold his ground as the creature sends him hurtling across the woods. Watch here:

Now there are two things in particular that are of interest: First, it seems like Geralt is using either Quen or Heliotrop. Both are signs that witchers use to protect themselves.

The slight difference is that Quen can protect from sonic waves or similar attacks, while Heliotrops can block physical attacks.

For fans who were disappointed with the lack of magic from Geralt’s side will be delighted by this visual treat.

The second bit is about Geralt’s orange lit-up sword. Some speculate it could be the working of runes, while others believe the witcher simply lit it up using another sign called Igni.

What’s fascinating about both these little Easter eggs is that they are a great blend of the books as well as the video games. It will be fun to see what other elements the show has managed to incorporate this season.

Plus, I’m not going to lie, The Witcher production has up their CGI game for Season 2. Shout out to this Reddit user for their clever reference to “Toss a coin to your witcher” in regards to Netflix upping the budget:

If The Witcher wants to release more monster clips, my suggestion would be to give us a taste of the Bruxa and Leshen, whose storylines will have quite a lot of prominence this season.

The Witcher Season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on December 17.
