God of War Ragnarok’s Release Date on PS Database Has Been Changed

The excitement surrounding the ventures of Kratos with his son, Atreus, across the brutal Norse realms grows with each passing day. But the tragedy is that despite being slated to roll out this year, we don’t know much about the highly-awaited title.

Many fans have been rightly worried about God of War Ragnarok getting delayed due to the lack of details. While the title never got an official release date, PlayStation’s own database had the title down for September 30, 2022.

But now, many enthusiasts have noticed a slight change in the database that suggests the sequel to 2018’s God of War has faced a delay.

PlayStation Game Size, which has an accurate record of getting details from the PlayStation Database, today reported that God of War Ragnarok’s internal release date has been changed from September 30 to December 31.

December 31, just like September 30, is a placeholder date and does not mean that the sequel to Kratos and Atreus’ adventures will hit the shelves a day before the new year.

As for when God of War Ragnarok will roll out, it could release any day in Q4 2022. On top of this, the internal change in placeholder date can also be indicative of an announcement that Santa Monica could soon make on God of War’s launch.

If you are still skeptical about Ragnarok’s timely development, perhaps the words of Ryan Hurst, the voice actor for Thor, will give you some hope. Hurst stated that his voice and motion capture work in the game as the “biggest butchering bastard in the Nine Realms” has come to a conclusion.

With a character as significant as the God of Thunder mostly ready, there’s a good chance that Santa Monica will keep its promise of a 2022 release and provide fans with an insight into Ragnarok’s release soon enough.

About God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is an action-adventure game currently in development by Santa Monica Studio and up for publication by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to release in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.

Ragnarok will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, chronologically, and the sequel to 2018’s God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Norway and feature series protagonists Kratos and his young son Atreus. The events of the game are expected to initiate Ragnarok – a series of events that, according to Norse lore, bring about the end of days and the death of the Norse gods.
