Don’t Sleep on Hawkeye, MCU’s Most Underrated TV Show

If the premiere wasn’t enough, Hawkeye Episode 3 stepped it up to prove that the show is worth its weight in gold.

The wonderful aspect about Marvel on Disney+ is that we really get to double down on those MCU characters who sometimes are little more than background pieces in the movies.

But not only does Hawkeye focus on Clint Barton, but it also shoulders introducing entirely new elements to the MCU—Kate Bishop at the forefront, along with Maya Lopez, her ties with Kingpin, and more.

Kingpin

In only three episodes, Hawkeye has done this exceptionally well. As characters who will both come to be known as “Hawkeye,” the show presents different sides to this title: Clint’s grief and heroic lethargy, balanced by Kate’s hopeful enthusiasm and sense of purpose.

Kate Bishop is honestly a breath of fresh air. I love the Barton-Bishop duo, but it also makes me excited for Kate’s solo adventures!

Episode 3 raised the bar when it introduced Maya Lopez, using sound as an important element in its storytelling.

Right from Maya’s childhood detailing her special hearing needs, all the action sequences, to Clint being unable to hear his son, Hawkeye overcame a stale routine to portray scenes in a way I’ve never seen before!

Yet, I can’t shake off the lack of buzz around the series. When Loki premiered, it became Disney+’s most streamed show surpassing WandaVision, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Despite stellar storytelling in Hawkeye, it has yet to achieve such acclaim. I can only hope this changes as the remaining half of the show airs.

Clint Barton aka Hawkeye

As a viewer, I’m taken through a rollercoaster, experiencing a bevy of emotions.

The dialogues are crisp, the story and character development are not rushed, and it did the unexpected—make me giggle at grown Russian dudes saying “bro” very often as if their life depends on it.

Hawkeye is undeniably one of MCU’s most underrated shows, and the best ride to get on during the holiday season! (Or, any other time, for that matter.)
