Disney Reveals First Official Look At Mater’s New Truck Design

Disney Plus has done it once again – shown off an updated look of a character cheekily in their homepage banner. This time, it’s Tow Mater, and his look is from the upcoming Cars spinoff series, Cars on the Road.

During the Disney Plus Day on the website, the banner featured a collage of multiple memorable characters. It also has Mater looking his old cheerful self, but more passionate.

It might be because of all the super cool updates he has received! From all copper, Mater now has a silver hood and lower body. He also has – wait for it – huge turbojets.

The Cars on the Road spinoff was teased back in 2020 but was officially confirmed on Disney+ Day. The series will see the return of Owen Wilson as the famous racing queen, Lightning McQueen, and Larry the Cable Guy as the over-enthusiastic, inspirational Tow Mater.

The series will focus on the two best friends and their journey through the countryside, meeting old and new characters.

Disney+ also revealed a few concept art pieces from the upcoming series, showcasing a variety of new faces.

We have dinosaur-looking cars, a car gang, and the BFFs rolling through the forest, all confused and maybe, a bit upset. It also shows Mater transforming into a monster truck.

If they are anything to go by, the series will see one of the wildest journeys in the Cars franchise. First, Mater as a monster truck and then an aircraft with turbojets? It seems like the series will see the cars’ transformation as one of the key angles in the plot.

Cars on the Road episodes promise to be “filled with lots of fun new characters” and “imaginative destinations”.

An official date for Cars on the Road hasn’t been announced, but it is expected to release in the Fall of 2022 on Disney Plus.
