Basim’s journey starts from being a rookie assassin to assassinating high-level targets such as corrupted members of the Order of the Ancients in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. His story spans across various main quests as well as side quests. The Gilded Butterflies is a main quest, which tasks you with assassinating the Treasurer.
The Treasurer’s identity is still a mystery at the beginning of this quest. Gilded Butterflies starts immediately after A Faceless Feather quest, where Roshan will give the objective to assassinate the Treasurer, one of the members of the Order.
1. How to complete Gilded Butterflies main mission in Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Players need to do the following to complete the Gilded Butterflies quest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage:
- Expose the Treasurer’s identity by eavesdropping
- Gain an audience with the Treasurer by obtaining the Ivory Coin Brooch
- Assassinate Ning, aka the Treasurer

2. Speak to Kong and Locating the Foreign Merchant
To start with finding out the identity of the Treasurer, activate your Eagle Vision when you enter the Bazaar to look for clues. Have a chat with the merchant named Kong, who will task you with stealing a plate from Luca. Head to the objective marker, where you’ll find a breakable wall.
Take the help of a moveable shelf in the room by dragging it to the scaffolding and climbing on it to find oil jars. Throw the oil jars at the breakable wall and drag the shelf to the opposite room.
Place the shelf right next to the objective marker and retrieve the plate for Kong. After receiving it, Kong will provide you with useful information about two women.
Next, locate the foreign merchant using your Eagle Vision. Speak to him and inspect his goods to learn more about the Treasurer.
3. Eavesdrop Nearby Women’s Conversation
Locate the two women using your Eagle Vision and sit on a nearby bench to eavesdrop on them. Follow them quietly after they leave until they arrive in a room. Find a nearby bench and eavesdrop on them again.
Once their conversation comes to a close, you can further inquire about the target from one of the women.
4. Obtain the Hairpin to Get an Audience with the Treasurer
To get close to the Treasurer, head to the objective marker which will take you to the Great Auction. You’ll have the option to bid on the hairpin that the Treasurer desires or you can steal it from the merchant who will end up buying it. If you choose to bid against the Treasurer, it will cost you 500 Dirhams.
Once the hairpin is obtained, you’ll need an Ivory Coin brooch to gather an audience. Proceed to the objective marker to find your target.
5. Head to the Location of the Ivory Coin Brooch
Activate your Eagle Vision to find the merchant, who will be highlighted. She will provide you with the location of the ivory brooch. Head to the location to find a guard patrolling a gate.
Assassinate the guard, sneak into the building, and make your way up to obtain the Ivory Coin brooch.
6. Assassinate Ning, aka the Treasurer
Inside the building, you’ll find Ning, aka the Treasurer, your target. Meeting her will trigger a cutscene. You’ll be prompted to assassinate her once the cutscene is over. After assassinating her, make your escape quick as the guards will be on high alert, and the mission will end.
