In Episode 9 of Zombieland Saga Revenge, the samurai allies of Kiichi planned a war on Nagasaki. This distressed Kiichi when he got to know this.
Itou requested Yugiri to leave Saga with Kiichi for their safety. Later, Yugiri sent letters to her acquaintances in Nagasaki and requested to offer protection to Kiichi.
That evening, when the samurai were heading towards Nagasaki, Itou killed them all. Yugiri asked Kiichi to escape to Nagasaki before the police find him. She then killed Itou.
Yugiri was privately executed for her involvement in rebellion acts. Meanwhile, Kiichi reached Nagasaki and eventually succeeded in appealing for Saga’s independence.

1. Episode 9 Preview & Speculation
I guess the bartender is immortal, and apparently, his health is directly tied to Saga, as he claimed. The old man was dying because Saga was on the brink of collapse, what with Itou stopping the rebels.
He survived because Yugiri saved Kiichi and thus ensured Saga’s survival.
Also, I have a feeling Itou’s modern equivalent is the reporter we see sometimes. I hope to see more of him in the upcoming episodes.
Unlike the rest of the girls whose deaths hit unexpectedly, leaving them with wistful thoughts of what might’ve been, Yugiri went out on her own terms.
By deliberately sacrificing herself so her lover could live and see his dream of a new Saga come true. She basically got what she wanted, so it’s no surprise she is calmer than the other members.

Episode 9 of the Zombieland Saga Revenge (2021) anime, titled “The SAGA of How These Zombies Will Get Their Revenge”, has been released on Thursday, Jun 10, 2021.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

3. Episode 8 Recap
A shopkeeper requests Yugiri, Kiichi, and Itou to have a picture in his restaurant so he could attract more customers. While going back, Itou warns Yugiri to watch herself and Kiichi.
Meanwhile, Kiichi works hard to get the prefecture of Saga back. But the recruited samurais begin planning an attack on Nagasaki against Kiichi’s wishes.
They order cannons and guns from Tsukuji to target the main road to Nagasaki. Yugiri gets to know about all this as she hears their conversation.
The samurai comrade reveals their plan to Kiichi, which distresses him. Kiichi insists on getting Saga back without a war but to no avail. They say that a boy like him will never understand what it felt like eight years ago.
Itou also gets to know this and assures Kiichi that he did his best to avoid destruction, but nothing can be done now. He comments that the survivors of the Saga war are arming up again, and everything that happened eight years ago is going to happen again.
As Itou passes through a street, he encounters a strange man and seems shocked to feel his presence. Later, Itou goes to meet Yugiri at her house.
Itou requests Yugiri to leave Saga with Kiichi for their own safety, but Yugiri asks him if Kiichi’s ambitions seem that shallow to him. So, Yugiri sends letters to her acquaintances in Nagasaki, requesting protection for Kiichi.
As the Samurai comrade heads towards Nagasaki for a war, Itou comes and kills each one of them. Kiichi runs to stop them but reaches only Itou had killed all of them. On seeing Kiichi, Itou comments that he told him to stop.
Kiichi asks Itou why he killed them inhumanly. Itou replies that it’s his job to keep an eye on rebels lurking in Saga. He comments that it would have been fine if he had kept it only to his childish campaign.
As their argument intensifies, Itou attacks Kiichi with his sword. But Yugiri comes and saves Kiichi. Yugiri asks Kiichi to save himself and leave Saga for a while. But, Kiichi constantly blames himself for everything.
Yugiri tells him that his mission might be naive and childish, but that got things moving again in Saga. Yugiri tells him to escape and take help from her acquaintances in Nagasaki.
On her way home, Yugiri meets Itou again. He comments that he didn’t expect a legendary courtesan to be this legendary. This stirs up their argument, and they get in a fight. Yugiri ends up killing Itou.
On realizing that Itou didn’t struggle to save himself, she asks him for a reason. Itou reveals that he who allowed her to kill him out of respect for Kiichi’s ideals.
She sends a letter to Kiichi’s grandfather and says that she must be dead by the time he will read it and tells him about Kiichi’s whereabouts.
She is then privately executed. It is then revealed that Saga gained independence from Nagasaki on May 9th, Meiji 16 (1883), thanks to Kiichi’s appeal.
In the present day, Yugiri visits the old man, who has become the bartender of Bar New Jofuku. They talk about the new Saga that Kiichi has helped create. She looks at her picture with Kiichi, and Itou clicked a long time ago when she was alive.

Zombie Land Saga is an original TV animation produced by the joint collaboration between MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames. Season 1 of the anime made in 2018 ran for 12 episodes and also paved way for a manga series.
The story is about Sakura and how her dream of becoming an idol soon comes to an end after being hit by a truck.
Finding herself in an unknown world, she later comes to know that she was resurrected as a zombie by a man named Koutarou.
