It’s been a while since fans were introduced to a new generation of duelers. Until July, when the franchise announced that it will bring a new anime series to continue the legacy of duelling gamblers in 2020. Now, there’s another new update.

The new series will be titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens and it will premiere in April 2020. More details along with the new trailer were dropped at Jump Festa ’20 event on Saturday.

The sixth and the last anime, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, premiered in Japan in May 2016 and the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens will mark the 20th anniversary of the anime franchise with Konami teasing the new upcoming series with the phrase:

“the history of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series will change.”

The new cast is as follows:

Hiiro Ishibashi as Yūga Ōdō, the protagonist:

Main monster: Seventh Road Magician

Taku Yashiro as Tatsuhisa Kamijō (Luke)

Main monster: Rengekiryū Dragias

Natsuki Hanae as Gakuto Sōgetsu

Tomori Kusunoki as Romin Kirishima.

The new anime will offer an elementary school protagonist for the first time in history. Yūga Ōdō, a fifth-grade student will be the lead with the whole plot set up in the future town of Gōha. The new anime will offer a new “Rush Duel” rule as well. For those who don’t know what Rush Duel is, here are three key points to sum it up:

New design of cards which are visually attractive and easy to read have been introduced.

2) You can summon as many monsters as you want each turn.

3) Each turn, you draw until your hand becomes 5.

Nobuhiro Kondo (Shōnen Ashibe GO! GO! Goma-chan all four seasons, Sgt. Frog, Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation) will be directing the anime at studio Bridge. Toshimitsu Takeuchi (Shōnen Ashibe GO! GO! Goma-chan all four seasons, Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold, ēlDLIVE) will oversee the scripts, Masahiro Hikokubo will once again oversee the duel layout, and Kazuko Tadano and Hiromi Matsushita will be the character designers with Hiroshi Yamamoto being the sound director.
