Coronavirus pandemic has paralyzed the industry by taking down all our significant sources of entertainment. From major public events to television anime and even manga serialization, we have seen all of them go down in the past couple of weeks in front of our eyes.
Some big titles such as Pokemon, Digimon, Attack on Titans, Food Wars!, and One Piece were caught up in this as well.
Looks like Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens is joining the list of delayed anime. The anime’s official website put up a notice stating that animation production is temporarily suspended.
Starting May 9 (TV Tokyo) and May 15 (BS TV East), Yu-Gi-Oh reruns will be shown in the broadcasting timeslot.
The notice on the website reads:
To create a program that takes into consideration the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we decided to temporarily suspend animation production.
Along with this, it will be rebroadcast from the next broadcast (TV Tokyo series May 9 broadcast, BS TV East May 15 broadcast).
Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens
The anime’s production was announced last year in JumpFesta. It premiered on April 4 on TV Tokyo and April 10 on BS TV East. The new anime features a new “Rush Duel” rule as well. For those who don’t know what Rush Duel is, here are three key points to sum it up:
- New designs of cards that are visually attractive and easy to read have been introduced.
- You can summon as many monsters as you want each turn.
- Each turn, you draw until your hand becomes 5.
The new anime commemorates the 20th anniversary of the anime franchise.
During the series’ introduction, Konami teased that, “the history of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series will change.”
