The young Sheldon Cooper has made its way into fans’ hearts, just like the adult one. Now that it’s returning for Season 5, offering a more mature outlook, show creator Steve Molaro has teased some exciting parent Easter eggs throughout the season.
While fans weren’t used to the new perspective of the show, feeling a lost connection from its parent show, they soon started loving Young Sheldon.
Creator Molaro was, of course, aware of the fans’ disappointment, mainly because they’ve loved the show throughout its massive 12-season run.
In TV Line’s Fall TV Preview 2021 exclusive scoops, Molaro revealed that the upcoming season would feature not one but multiple Easter eggs.
He shared that unlike Amy Farrah Fowler’s cameo at the start of season 4, season 5 promises “a few exciting Easter eggs scattered throughout.” He even revealed one of the biggest Easter eggs, that of “the origin of Sheldon’s disdain for engineering.”
His hatred for engineering is one of the biggest things to look forward to. We’ll finally know why he mocks Howard almost every chance he gets because he’s an engineer!
Molaro was clever not to reveal when these Easter eggs might appear, raising the curiosity and making fans watch the season till the very end.
He also revealed that season 5 will take up exactly where season 4 left off – with Brenda and George still at the bar—adding that there will be “a small-time jump” around episode 7, where we’ll see Sheldon beginning his second semester of college.
As the new semester starts, Sheldon will find it increasingly difficult to handle things. To top all of this off, we will also see his elder brother Georgie make a decision “that will affect the entire family.”
There’s also a possibility of Sheldon finding his dad’s infidelity towards the show’s second half, when it takes a time jump.
As for now, Sheldon is still around 12 years old, and the adult Sheldon had revealed he found out about the traumatic incident when he was 13.
Young Sheldon kicked off in 2017 with Ian Armitage stepping into Jim Parsons’ genius but intolerable childhood version of Dr. Sheldon Cooper from the cult-favorite, The Big Bang Theory.
Young Sheldon season 5 will premier on October 7 on HBO Max.
