Young Sheldon will soon be returning from its mid-season hiatus with its 100th episode on March 31. Making the two-week break worth the wait, the Season 5 Episode 17 promo clip shows Sheldon’s crush, Paige Swanson (McKenna Grace), knocking on his door.
In the preview clip by SpoilerTV, the 100th episode titled ‘A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth, Paige and Sheldon share a conversation that definitely seems to be a bit awkward.
Paige knocks on Sheldon’s door at his East Texas Tech dorm to “just hang out.” Throughout the conversation, Sheldon remains oblivious to Paige’s (a tad bit) worried expressions.
Paige seems to dislike the idea when Sheldon says yes to his next-door neighbor, asking him to come over for a Mario Kart Death Match. At least on Paige’s side, the tension in the air is apparent, as it seems that she wanted some time alone with her friend.
Moreover, Paige even shared that she lives with a 30-year-old chaperone because maybe “they” think she’s “some kind of a trouble maker.”
The 100th episode will have a strong shift into a direction the creators, Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, have been building for a long time.
With Paige’s guest appearance, there is bound to be some shift in the way Sheldon thinks. For Sheldon to even let Paige enter his dorm, and invite her for a Mario Kart match even after her punching him in the face, shows a positive side of him.
It remains to be seen if Sheldon will develop the skills to read the expressions and help Paige out in whatever struggle she might be in or not. Meanwhile, the Cooper patriarch George’s story will also set up the moments that shaped The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon.
For now, creators and fans have a lot to look forward to as Young Sheldon has two more seasons to go.
