After having no confirmed release date or development updates through the entirety of 2020, we are now getting more and more info on Far Cry 6 almost every day.
Set on a completely new and extensive open-world map populated with freshly tailored characters, the game is going to have a lot to offer in terms of narrative depth. But it seems there is also going to be a lot to take in terms of user experience.
A lot about Far Cry 6 was revealed in its gameplay trailer, including a cute little puppy. Animals (friendly and not so) have always been a familiar presence in every title of the Far Cry franchise.
Whether they’re attack dogs set upon you by enemy NPCs or wild animals that need to be hunted to craft in-game items, you will find friends from the wilderness in any Far Cry title you play. In Far Cry 6, however, you will have the chance to interact with them in a much more friendly and wholesome way.
According to Reddit user Thereaper29, in-game animations confirm that Far Cry 6 will allow players to pet not only the dog featured in the gameplay trailer but also a trained attack crocodile.
Far Cry 5 was the first game in the franchise to let players be more friendly with animals, but it seems Far Cry 6 has taken this concept even further.
It’s becoming common practice for AAA games to provide players opportunities for more friendly interactions with animals. In Suckerpunch’s samurai super-hit Ghost of Tsushima, you can pick and choose between three horses and provide them one of three names right at the start of the game.
Additionally, the game also lets you pet foxes after they’ve guided you to hidden shrines. In The Last of Us: Part 2, you can play around with a pet attack-dog by throwing a ball for it to fetch. This is very reminiscent of Franklin playing with the rottweiler Chop in GTA 6.
This petting animals feature joins another of Far Cry 6’s recently detailed user experience features where your notoriety in the game’s world will dictate how fast enemies recognize you. But while there’s quite a bit about the game that is common knowledge, there’s still a lot that is yet to be revealed by Ubisoft.
It will be interesting to see what the next few weeks bring in terms of new information for the game. At the moment, all eyes are on the upcoming Ubisoft Foward event that is going to be held at E3 2021. The one thing that is confirmed, however, is that you will be getting more content to play once you finish the game’s main story.
