Yellowstone Season 5 Will Be Its Last Season 

Yellowstone season 5 will reportedly be the show’s last season. However, the franchise can still grow through spin-off shows. 

Kevin Costner starring neo-Western drama follows the illustrious Dutton family, who owns the largest ranch in Montana, popularly known as the Yellowstone Ranch. It explores the ongoing conflicts along the borders of Broken Rock Reservation, the Yellowstone Ranch and others. 

Yellowstone has been supported by many spin-offs which has enabled its full potential, but it seems like the original series is nearing its end. According to various sources, Yellowstone will come to an end with season 5. 

However, that does not mean the franchise has to end too. The makers are planning to expand the franchise with another Dutton series, which will reportedly be led by Matthew McConaughey and other Yellowstone stars. One of the reasons why the show is heading toward an end is scheduling issues with lead actor Kevin Costner.

Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

Yellowstone saying goodbye will not harm the franchise severely, as it will continue to expand. There is a lot of space for makers to explore and consider making new spin-offs. 

In fact, some Yellowstone spin-offs, such as 1883: The Bass Reeves Story will not follow the Dutton family at all. These shows could look at other characters in the franchise, or they could be set in a different setting altogether, which will ensure the franchise does not become monotonous. 

However, Yellowstone will remain incomplete without the Duttons, so they will still keep appearing directly or indirectly in the future of the franchise. Series creator Taylor Sheridan is already clear about how Yellowstone will end, so Paramount Network should start planning potential spin-offs already.
