Watch ‘Em Ride Away should sound very uneventful from the outset, shouldn’t it? So, it is almost embarrassing that I enjoyed it so much!
This episode perfectly captures the show’s essence, i.e., the cowboy life. The Duttons are all set for the branding season. It is a week-long period when the cowboys must travel with their cattle down the mountains to be branded. It means traveling for weeks on horseback without food, water, and comfort.
As usual, the nucleus of all trouble is Beth. Again.
So, without much ado, let’s be Sherlocking!
1. Season 5, Episode 6 Speculation
Firstly, Beth’s sole motive in this episode was to come up with the perfect insult for Summer Higgins. She is not happy with her father bumping uglies with the environmentalist girl. But we can’t expect anything better from her, can we?
I want to see the endgame between Beth and Summer. Will John finally intervene and stop his eccentric daughter? Also, Summer Higgins is no slouch. I predict a showdown between these two in the next episode.
I sense they will be intimate very soon, starting a weird love triangle between John, Summer, and Lynelle. Summer and Beth won’t get along, leading to even more drama!
Also, the story of the Sarah Atwood woman needs to be focused on. We still don’t know who Sarah Atwood is and her motive behind seducing Jamie. Now that Jamie’s mysterious son is known to everyone, he should play a part in future episodes. Seriously Jamie, stop being a weasel!
I want to see more of this expedition. The chemistry of the Duttons is on display here, and it is a beautiful representation of retro cowboy life.
Monica, as usual, is crying at the end of the episode. This time for a happier reason than usual:
Monica: If it doesn’t make you cry to watch your family ride away, you probably shouldn’t have one.
Stay tuned for the penultimate episode of the season next week!

5. Season 5, Episode 5 Recap
If you were trying to scare away wolves on your farm and missed this week’s episode in the process, we have you covered. We have the perfect refresher for you!
This week’s episode is set around the branding season, a week-long event in which the cowboys must take their cattle down the mountains to be branded.
For Duttons, the main problem is Beth, as usual. She is furious with John for inviting Summer Higgins to stay at the ranch. She does everything possible to insult her and can’t stop taunting her dad for sleeping with the enemy.
John insists everyone have dinner together, and Summer makes a big deal about the meat being served. Beth has had enough. She invites Summer outside and tries to trick her, ending in a sticky disaster.
They set out for the two-day expedition the following day after an uneventful breakfast. Monica starts crying as usual. This time because she feels proud of her family.
