Microsoft: Xbox Series X Availability to Remain Limited till June

All those who want to get their hands on the Xbox Series X will have to wait for a while. It has been confirmed that stores won’t have Microsoft’s next-gen consoles in abundance until the second half of the year.

Microsoft’s head of investor relations, Mike Spencer, declared that there would be a lack of Xbox Series X in the market. He claimed that the company wouldn’t be able to increase its production to meet such sky-rocketing demands till June.

Ever since the Xbox Series X release last year, it has been difficult to buy the next-gen console. The pandemic obviously played a huge role in its limited production. From following lockdown protocols to staff shortage, things must have been tough to manage.

There is genuinely multiple factors behind next gen console shortages.

1. Getting component orders in to build the consoles isn't easy right now.

Even other factors like the shipment of consoles must have been a nuisance for every party involved. Moreover, scalpers also play a huge role in depleting the inventory of such premium, sought-after consoles.

In an emailed statement to CNET, a spokesperson of the company said that Microsoft is

“working tirelessly with our manufacturing and retail partners to replenish Xbox hardware as quickly as possible,”

“We continue to see overwhelming global demand from our fans for the next generation of Xbox. In some instances, more consoles will become available on a weekly basis depending on the retailer and market.”

It was AMD that revealed the news of the drought of next-gen consoles first. The custom chips that Xbox Series X/S use are developed by AMD.

Due to the high demand, even the chipset manufacturing giants held their hands up. AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, confirmed that the scarcity of next-gen consoles might persist till the first half of 2021. She further added that this is because “overall demand exceeded [the company’s] planning.”

The only thing that gaming enthusiasts can do right now is hope that things move upwards and onwards from here!
