Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, the title itself tells you about the everyday struggles we otakus face. From constantly comparing your real-life situations with your fantasies to being socially awkward like your favourite anime protagonist, love is indeed hard for an otaku.
The anime mostly revolved around Hiroka and Nifuji, but now it’s high time to give the side characters some well-deserved attention. The new OAD will be focussing on the love story of Naoya and Ko.
An original anime disc has been shipped with the 10th volume of Fujita’s Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. Ichijinsha, the publisher, is already streaming a trailer video for this special OAD episode.
The video features Naoya Nifuji and Ko Sakuragi, who are slowly getting to know each other. They spend a lot of time together and will most likely fall in love with each other. Even in this short trailer, there are at least 4-5 cute moments where Ko turns red while talking with Naoya.
In addition, Ichijinsha also posted an 11-minute video to celebrate the release. The video previews a small part of the episode, where we see Naoya and Ko getting along with each other.
Ko is no more embarrassed of her otaku life, and she has finally found someone who likes her for who she is. Naoya is seen holding a cute little soft-toy, with which he makes Ko smile.
The animation looks so aesthetically pleasing, and why won’t it be? After all, the animator and illustrator of Gintama is the animation director and character designer for this OAD episode.
In the key visual, we see Naoya holding Ko’s hand. Probably they are out on a movie date since Naoya is holding two tickets. Ko is shy as always and doesn’t know how to react.

While we are excited over this special episode, the Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku manga has achieved yet another milestone. According to reports, Fujita’s original manga has 11 million copies under circulation.
Ko is an introverted gamer who never fell in love with something other than video games. Due to her short hair and dull dressing sense, she is often mistaken for a man.
On the other, hand Naoya is a bright young boy with a cheerful personality, quite the opposite of Ko’s. But in the end, it’s all about who understands you the best.
I don’t know about you, but I always felt that they are the perfect match for each other. Grab on the latest volume asap to get your hands on the original anime disc.
