Return to Fabletown must have been on the minds of most gamers. However, they have to bide their time patiently as the sequel to Wolf Among Us has been delayed.
Developers Telltale games tweeted, confirming that despite works beginning in 2020, The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed out of 2023. The work continues on Fabletown however they want to deliver the “sequel fans deserve” and in view of health of the team.
The tweet did not specify any particular release date. This is a cause of concern for many fans. The developers acknowledged how frustrating it must be but claimed to be resolute in telling the ongoing story of “Bigby and the rest of the Fabletown gang.”
The team developing The Wolf Among Us 2 majorly remains the same as the one that developed the first part, even though the original studio went bankrupt.
The new developers Telltale are newly founded. However, the OG Telltale was infamous for its crunches and rushed schedules. It relieves most fans that they are not continuing suit and are looking to develop the game holistically.
This can also be confirmed in an interview by Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie with IGN, where he clarified his position that he has crunched in the past and is not willing to do it again as it’s just not fair. He understood how it wasn’t healthy work culture and unsustainable.
Players would only be hoping with fingers crossed that the sequel lives up to the original game, if not surpass it. Ottilie has also confirmed that the game has switched to Unreal Engine 5.
The switch automatically means that the game would have a nicer looking, more optimized feel to it. This would also mean that many things that could have been ported from the previous game built on Unreal Engine 4 have to be reworked from scratch.
