The Disney+ TV series Willow just wrapped up the season 1 finale and, with it, the first adventure of Willow Ufgood after the 1988 film. Though Disney+ hadn’t announced the show’s renewal till now, the end-credits scene just confirmed two upcoming seasons for the spinoff. Not only that, but episode 8’s ending also teased season 2’s main antagonist and hinted at Graydon moving to the dark side.
The season 1 finale finally revealed the Crone’s true face and purpose – she’d set out to be the harbinger of the Wyrm, where Bavrmoda had failed in the 1988 film. Of course, as we saw in episode 8, she tried to shift that role to Airk, but Kit also parried that move. So, we have another theory as to who will raise the Wyrm.
Episode 8 also established Graydon has the makings of a great sorcerer, and when the Crone decided to fight him, it also proved his passion for the craft. His “death” was only a farce that went unnoticed by the team, and now he falls into the same pit of illusion as Elora and Kit had.
They all possessed the Blood of the Six, capable of raising the Wyrm, and while we’re not sure if Graydon possesses the same, it is possible, considering he will help bring the New Age. We’ll finally see the Dark Graydon that was teased throughout season 1!
The Crone may be dead, and her powers passed on, but we’ll have the Wyrm taking over next season. Elora promised they’ll see him/it again since the actual threat is yet to be dealt with. All in all, season 1 of Willow was used to set up the story and characters, both of which we’ll see in full swing in the coming seasons.
Elora Donan received the best arc of all in season 1 with her powers unleashed, her feelings about Airk and her relationship with Kit shaped for better. But her adventure has just begun since she will be the weapon against the Wyrm, and we already know Kit will serve as her sword and shield in the upcoming seasons.
No tentative dates for seasons 2 & 3 were hinted in the finale, but we assure you more news will follow about the upcoming seasons soon. Did you like the season 1 finale of Willow?
