This week’s episode of the Willow TV series brought Christian Slater’s Allagash and explained the history behind the death of Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan. Madmartigan’s voice sounded familiar in episode 6 because Kilmer’s real-life son Jack voiced him.
But that voice almost caused Kit’s demise in this episode! Willow and Kit were the trolls’ prisoners in Skellin, but the decade-long prisoner Allagash joined them, feeding them tales of the traitor Boorman who cost Kit’s father his life.
Even though Allagash showed his true colors later, thus confirming he’d been the one behind Madmartigan’s death, Kit felt betrayed at coming so close to her father and being torn away from him yet again. Which is why when she hears his voice call out to her, asking her to save him, she is ready to dive into danger.
Elora and Jade save her, but the princess is lost in thought as the reunited group makes their escape while Allagash sacrifices himself to the trolls, earning his redemption for his wrong deeds. A stone falls on the frozen watery abyss, and Kit falls through, the hole magically closing up behind her as she drowns slowly while the others pound on the ground to save her.
Elora casts her spells to free Kit after Willow’s weak magical rescue attempt, but before we can see what that results in, the scene cuts to Airk, who’s just regained consciousness in what we think is the Immemorial City. But when his illusions drop and a mystery woman claims to have the key to free them all, the viewers guess Sorsha’s children are in imminent danger.
Who knows if this mystery woman isn’t the Crone in disguise, luring the young prince to activate the Six’s blood in his system and evoke the doom that threatens the magical worlds. Kit’s grief and rage may have cost her another life because even though Elora’s powers have been growing, she’s not nearly strong enough to cast such heavy spells under immense pressure.
The ending surely has Willow’s audience on the edge of their seats, waiting to know if Kit and Airk are indeed in fatal danger or not. The TV series will be back next week with some answers and hopefully some good news for Sorsha’s twins.
