Blue Lock has taken over the world of anime enthusiasts by storm, and for a good reason. It offers a quite unique take on soccer, and Japan’s performance during the FIFA World Cup boosted its popularity even more.
Season 1 of this series already started on an intense note. We saw that friendship and sportsmanship have no place in the Blue Lock universe, unlike other sports anime.
The first season of the anime is still ongoing, and there are still many episodes left till the anime ends. However, many fans are already looking forward to a Season 2.
There has been no official news regarding the release of Blue Lock Season 2. But, given the rising popularity of its anime, it’s possible we might get season 2 of Blue Lock. Besides, there’s no lack of adaptable content either, since the manga has more than 200 chapters.
How many chapters will Blue Lock Season 1 cover?
Season 1 will run for two cours, so we can assume that it will cover around 80 chapters of the manga. This means that the first season of the anime will cover the First Selection arc and the Second Selection arc.
Season 2 storyline: What to expect
Season 2 will probably kick off the Third Selection arc. It will cover the U20 match if it lasts for just one cour. But, if the next season follows the two-cour pattern, we might get an adaptation of the Neo-Egoist League arc, featuring talented players like Kaiser.
However, the second season won’t adapt the Neo Egoist League arc completely, since it has too many chapters. It’s quite likely that the season might end with a cliffhanger from the Neo-Egoist League arc.
Nonetheless, it’s important to understand that all these speculations should be taken with a grain of salt. We will only come to know what will happen in season 2 after an official announcement is made.
If Eight Bit does plan to release a second season, you can expect them to make an announcement after season 1 ends around early April.

Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018. Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2021.
The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup.
Isagi Youichi, a forward, receives an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate.
Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock”.
