There is a chance that Wanda’s story will not end with WandaVision’s nine episodes. According to Elizabeth Olsen, who plays protagonist Wanda Maximoff in the show, a second season of WandaVision is a definite possibility. However, not much can be said about it before the premiere of the first season on January 15th.
The show will revolve around Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, and Vision’s married life in a quiet suburban town until they realize that something is wrong with reality. The story is based on the House of M comics and will focus on how Wanda deals with Vision’s loss and how her powers create an apocalyptic situation on Earth.
WandaVision is Marvel’s first project in the fourth phase of MCU. The series has been in production since the release of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and is an incredibly anticipated show. Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in lead roles, WandaVision will lay the foundation for many storylines that Phase 4 will explore in the future.
After the finale of the series, Wanda will be seen in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness, where she will have an integral role. Doctor Strange 2 will also tie up the events of WandaVision and Spider-Man 3. But, in an interview with Collider, Olsen said that there might still be some more to Wanda’s story, which might warrant a second season of WandaVision.
Of course, not much is known about the second season, but the actress’s answer suggests that the studio is open to extending the series if there is more to tell about the characters. This might apply to the other Marvel shows that are debuting on Disney+ later in the year.
Given that Scarlet Witch is one of the strongest members of the Avengers, a second season of WandaVision might be received with overwhelming enthusiasm.
