Netflix’s Trinkets was released in June, 2019 and proved to be a tremendous hit. Just like any successful new release, fans have been hounding the streaming giant for a follow-up season.
The teen drama series is based on Kirsten Smith’s novel of the same name. It follows the eccentric and unlikely friendship between three girls that blossom during a Shoplifters Anonymous meeting.
The first season ended with a mind-boggling cliffhanger. Fans have been left with many questions relating to its characters and plotline, that could only be answered with a second season. But is there going to be one?
1. Premiere Date and Highlights
Trinkets has been officially confirmed for season 2! The news hits as bittersweet to ardent fans of the series as it will also be the closing chapter for the series.
Netflix released the official announcement in July last year, just a month after the first season premiered. Although there is no official release date yet, Netflix has announced the series to arrive sometime in 2020.
However, with the recent pandemic significantly affecting the movie and television industry, we are likely to expect more delays in its shooting a production. Hopefully, season 2 will air this year!
2. Series Overview and Cast
The show introduces us to three teenage girls- Elodie, Moe, and Tabitha. They share the same school and unusual attribute- they all are victims of Kleptomania, a psychological disorder that compels people to harbor an irresistible urge to steal.
The series records the ups and downs of the three teens, along with their traumas, insecurities, and challenges.
The three teens’ enimity towards each other soon softens into friendship as they share the stigma of being a kleptomaniac and the mutual feeling of being outsiders.
Most of the cast members for season 1 are expected to reprise their roles.
We will see Brianna Hildebrand again as Elodie Davis together with Kiana Madeira as Moe Truax, and Quintessa Swindell as Tabitha Foster.
Brandon Butler is also likely to return as Brady Finch. Odiseas Georgiadis will be back as Noah Simos. Larry Sullivan and Dana Green are also expected to be back as Elodie’s father and step-mother, Doug and Jenna.
3. Official Trailer
Although there hasn’t been a trailer released as yet, Netflix had released a teaser for its second season in July, 2019.
For now, fans are left with no choice except to air out their wishes on the show’s official social media.
4. Official Poster
There has been no official poster released yet. This is understandable; due to the pandemic, shooting and production have shut down for many projects. Meanwhile, here are some stills from Trinkets’ first season!
5. Expected Plot
Judging by how the first season closed, it looks like season 2 will be more intense.
Towards season one’s finale, we saw Elodie running away from home after she was told she would be sent to a treatment facility in Seattle to treat her shoplifting habit.
Moe, who confessed she doesn’t have kleptomania, finally shoplifted a bottle of Tequila. Tabitha stole her abusive boyfriend Brady’s car and ignored his warnings of reporting her to the police.
The teaser suggested that season 2 will give us answers to season 1’s abrupt end. Will the girls ever be able to recover from their shoplifting addiction? Or will Moe end up adopting the behavior?
More importantly, can they each revive their severed relationships?
We’ll just have to wait till season 2 to find out.
