Hijack is an action thriller on Apple TV+ that created suspense and anxiety about the fate of a plane under attack, but it also offered a satisfying resolution. The series, starring Idris Elba, used real-time narration to depict the ordeal of a hijacked plane flying from Dubai to London.
The thrilling finale revealed the true motive of the hijacking, as well as the connections to the criminal organization that orchestrated it and the roles of other characters in executing the mastermind’s sinister plan.
However, the outcome was positive, as Flight KA29 safely landed in London with some injuries and damages. After a tense final confrontation, Sam (Elba) managed to apprehend the main hijacker Stuart (Maskell) who attempted to murder him.
The series was impressive, but it may leave fans curious about a potential second season. As of now, there is no official confirmation about Hijack season 2. The Hijack season 1 finale was quite conclusive, so there’s less scope for Hijack season 2.
1. Will there be Hijack season 2?
As of now, Apple TV+ has not confirmed the renewal of a second season of Hijack. The Hijack season 1 finale wrapped up all the plot points quite well. So, there is not much scope for the story to continue in season 2.
However, there is always a chance that Hijack will return for another season. While the plot of Hijack season 1 seems to have ended for good, season 2 can look at another plot point. There are also a few characters whose stories could be explored further in another season.
But as of now, there has been no such hints regarding season 2. Moreover, it would not be a good idea to drag the plot of season 1, which has ended on a good note and wrapped up all the plot points well. Maybe we can see Sam Nelson return for another mission in a different setting.
2. Idris Elba on a Potential Hijack Season 2
In an interview with Variety, Idris Elba said that he was open to playing Sam Nelson on screen again.
“What would be the acceptable scenario that he comes back? Because we’ve thought about this and obviously Apple have gone, ‘Well, we really love the show.’ And I think, you know, Rotten Tomatoes is at 92% at the moment, which is a good sign, but it’s kind of like — he’s not a cop — what would be the acceptable Sam Nelson return? And if I’m honest, I’m not sure.
“I’d like that, but I just don’t want to put him on another hijack. I’m open to that character coming back. I think if people were compelled to like the character, then I’m in.”
Let’s wait and see whether Hijack is renewed for another season and whether we will see Sam Nelson on another mission.
