Will Netflix have another season of The Witcher: Blood Origin?

However, The Witcher: Blood Origin Season 2 may not actually happen. The series has its own self-contained plot, which reduces the chances of it being renewed for Season 2. The four episodes in Season 2 already answer the major questions about the universe—such as how the first Witcher was created, what happened during the Conjunction of the Spheres, and the story of the seven warriors.

Therefore, there’s limited scope for the story to be carried on to another season. The purpose of the series was to explain the complicated history of the universe, which it already achieved with its first season. There’s not much left to tell unless the show finds an organic way to continue the prequel story.

In other words, it is quite unlikely that Netflix will be too keen on renewing Blood Origin for Season 2. The streaming platform could instead focus on other spinoff shows of The Witcher.

The only way that Netflix could renew Blood Origin for Season 2 is by providing further explanation about the world of The Witcher. If all the major questions about the universe are answered through one show, it could benefit those new to the franchise. Moreover, if Netflix continues to change the original story and divert from the books, Blood Origin could help explain these changes and provide better insight into them.

Only time will tell if Netflix will give us a follow-up season. But if they do, here’s hoping it would add value to the original show and its backstory.
