After the epic show’s Season 1 concluded last week, it is a no-brainer that the show has left us wanting more. Right from the first frame of Season 1 Episode 9, we saw a crescendo of moments as Mark, Helly, Dylan, and Irving’s plan was in motion.
If you haven’t watched the season finale, look in the other direction because this article is full of spoilers.
Mark realizes his wife is still alive, Helly tells the world that Lumon is a horrible place that has no human rights, Irving finds out that his innie boyfriend Burt is married in real life, and Dylan gets tackled by Milchick.
It’s evident that Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger. But the one question we all had is if the show would be renewed for Season 2.
Now that Apple TV+ has renewed Severance for Season 2, fans can sit back in relief. Ben Stiller will be returning to the Director’s chair for the next season, whose release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Severance is one of those few shows which leverages all its cast members equally and has an immaculate screenplay to back their incredible performances. While we still have more questions than answers about the show’s plot and premise, it is relieving to know there’s another season coming.
Severance Season 2 will have all its main characters reprising their roles. These include:
- Mark Scout
- Helena Eagan
- Irving
- Dylan
- Ms. Cobel
- Milchick
- Burt
- Ms. Casey/Gemma
Apple TV+ has not yet announced when the show will go into production or release, but we likely have to wait till 2023 to see these characters again. We also don’t know if Mark’s sister and her husband will be returning, but Mark’s arc would remain incomplete without them.
The show ends with Mark screaming, “She’s still alive!” but we don’t know if Devon’s sister understands who “she” refers to. At that exact moment, Milchick tackles Dylan, and he lets go of the control, leading to the end of overtime contingency, and unfortunately, Season 1.
One thing gnawing at me is the absence of Regabhi in the season finale. She was the one who performed the reintegration surgery on Petey and surely held the key to some of the puzzles we, the audience, are trying to solve.
I guess we’ll have to wait and find out how it all unfolds in Season 2. For now, I’m going back into the deepest and darkest rabbit hole on the internet to find some answers. Perhaps I shall find solace in fan theories before I get any more news on Severance Season 2.
