The Fast & Furious is left without its Hobbs as Dwayne Johnson won’t be returning to the franchise, as Johnson recently stated in an interview. However, there might still be hope for a Hobbs & Shaw sequel.
Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions’ president of production and producer Hiram Garcia has confirmed the news and told Collider that Johnson will not appear in F10 or F11 but also said that a Hobbs & Shaw 2 is still in the works.
At the moment, we’re trying to figure out what that sequel is going to be, but we have some very big ideas.

Johnson had previously announced in March 2020 that Chris Morgan would return to write the screenplay for Hobbs & Shaw 2.

After filming Fast 8, DJ made the clear decision to close the Fast & Furious chapter for all the evident reasons. He wished them all well and shifted our focus on to other storytelling avenues. So while he will not be in F10 or F11, that won’t in any way interfere with our Hobbs plans.
Obviously, all these characters exist in the Fast universe, and we love to see all aspects of that universe thrive and succeed. We just have specific plans for what we want to do with the Hobbs character, and I think the fans are going to love it! We’re working to deliver something very unique and fresh, and we know the studio is eager for us to get into it ASAP!

Johnson first appeared in Fast Five and continued to amaze the audience in Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, and Fate of the Furious. After the eighth installment, Johnson starred in the spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw.
The 2019 cop-buddy film saw Johnson’ Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Shaw team up to fight the big bad. It was well received by the fans, grossing $760 million worldwide.
Since the spinoff, Johnson has been a busy man, as his recent titles include Jumanji: The Next Level, Jungle Cruise, Young Rock, the upcoming Red Notice film, and his DC entry with Black Adam.
The sequel still seems to be in the pre-production stage, so it’s unlikely that it will be out anytime soon. But fret not, one thing’s for sure, it is definitely happening. And as it turns out, it can survive just fine without the ‘family’s support.
