Euphoria’s penultimate episode was a literal dramatic recap of everything that happened so far in the show, between Season 1 and Season 2. Every arc was depicted from Lexi’s point of view, and as expected, we saw different kinds of reactions from various characters.
However, someone was conspicuously missing from the play—Fez. He promised Lexi he’d be there, and we spend the entire episode watching him carefully get ready to attend the play. But by the time the episode ended, the play was already halfway done, and his seat was still empty. We then see Fez in his house, with Ash, Faye, and Custer, where he asks everyone if everything’s okay.
Knowing that Custer is a rat working with the police, it’s only a matter of time before we arrive at the obvious question. Will Fezco and Ash get caught for Mouse’s murder?
Going by the Episode 8 promo, Fezco and Ash will be caught for Mouse’s murder. The promo shows cops break through a door and, in another frame, a pinned down Fezco, shouting. This indicates that Custer was successful in getting Fezco and Ash caught.
In the previous episode, Custer tells Faye how he’s cooperating with the police because they have been behind Fez and Ash’s tail since Mouse’s murder in Season 1. He warns Faye to stay away because the cops are closing in on them, and things might get ugly.
In Episode 7, we see Custer again, but this time it looks like he’s there to get the job done, once and for all. He places his phone on the table and warns Faye to leave right then. Ash sees all this from a distance and immediately knows something is fishy. Towards the end of the episode, all the four are in the same room, and Fezco asks everyone if all is okay because he senses that the tensions are high. With this, the episode ends, and we’re left wondering what happens next.
While I think it was inevitable for Fezco and Ash to get into trouble, I still don’t understand how the police caught on to this. Custer had mentioned earlier that they already had too much information on Fez, and he was merely cooperating. This means someone had been helping the cops already. So the question is, who ratted Fezco and Ash out?
While it will be easy to point fingers at Nate or his father, Cal, I believe that it could be Laurie who is behind all this. In an earlier episode, Custer mentioned how “Nelson’s baby mama” had been asking him questions.
Some fans mentioned how the subtitles were intentionally/unintentionally wrong, and the name he said was actually Mouse. Laurie could be the mother of Mouse’s child and would want revenge against Fezco, not only for killing him but also for trying to ruin her business. This becomes the perfect way to get back at Fezco.
Euphoria’s season finale is airing this Sunday, and all we have to do is wait to find out what actually happens. Whether Fez ends up in jail or not, he would become an essential part of Season 3, and perhaps the finale can set the stage for that.
