Will Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Return To Marvel?

Black Widow hit the theatres and the Disney+ premium access streaming today, and it has already won a million hearts across the globe. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow has stunned us with yet another scintillating performance, making us yearn for more. But will we be seeing her as Natasha Romanoff again?

Black Widow 2021 is the last film where we see Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her arc with this prequel is now complete, and she has left with no plans to return to MCU.

After Avengers Endgame, fans were left with so many questions. Then, with the announcement of the Black Widow solo film, we were left wondering what it would be about and what would happen to the character after the film.

All these questions have been answered in the film. The story resumes after the Captain America Civil War and depicts Natasha Romanoff’s life before Infinity War. We are taken back in time as Natasha goes back to where she came from to end an evil she thought she had already destroyed.

While the film has action sequences that are a treat for adrenaline junkies, it also adds more layers to the character we’ve known for so long. Or rather, we’ve not known for so long.

Will Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Return to Marvel?
Natasha’s Family

We meet Natasha’s family, who is not her biological family but a mere ruse by the Russians for a mission. And together, they try to stop a mad man with a titan complex who wants to control the world by controlling the minds of helpless little girls.

I know, right! There are way too many things happening simultaneously, but Marvel makes a bang on film despite that. The chemistry between the family of four is so good. I almost instantly want them all to come back together as one, which they do. It would’ve broken my heart otherwise.

Natasha & Yelena

Another vital part of the film was Florence Pugh as Yelena, Natasha’s sister. She goes from being a deadly assassin to a savior to that little kid who wanted a family, to a sister; all of this so effortlessly. I wish I see her as the next Black Widow because no one else can fill those shoes better than her.

With this film, we see Black Widow’s story arc come full circle, and it’s good to see it ended on a sort of happy note. I mean, she dies knowing that she didn’t have one but two families. And though that makes me sad, I guess it’s still better than the alternative.

In an interview with Variety, Scarlett Johansson said that she’s going out on a high note. Well, I couldn’t agree more. If anything, this film has made us want to see her more as this insane character!

Black Widow Post-Credit Scene

Black Widow Post Credit Scene

But but but, Black Widow isn’t merely a tribute but something bigger, much bigger. In the post-credit scene, we see the debut of Valentina in the MCU, who in the comics is a S.H.I.E.L.D double agent who goes on to become the ruler of her own secret society as Madame Hydra.

As Valentina stands next to Yelena before Natasha’s grave, she gives her the next target – Clint Barton, whom she claims is responsible for Natasha’s death.

Chilling! I guess this sets forth yet another arc for newer characters, and I just can’t wait to see how their stories unfold. Alright now, I’m going to go back and watch the film again because sadly we won’t see Scarlett as Natasha again. You can too. The watch link’s below!
