As the credits for The Batman roll, you’re left thinking this cannot possibly be the end—the one and done, standalone film.
If anything, Robert Pattinson’s rendition has swung open the door for an exciting start of a new Batman franchise, where we’re only at the start of his superhero journey.
Director Matt Reeves has been eying a TV series based on the Penguin, so we know that the story is far from over. But will Pattinson’s Caped Crusader return to the big screen?
Although Warner Bros have not confirmed a sequel for The Batman, it is highly probable that there will be one greenlit, thanks to its critical acclaim and box office success.
There is a surprise announcement scheduled for March 11 which may be news of the same.

Everything We Know about The Batman Sequel
Reeves stated in a live stream interview to The Independent, that he did not intentionally set off making The Batman with sequels in mind, but there are certainly talks going on currently about the same.
Warner Bros has not released any official statements about The Batman sequel but we do know that the film’s main cast has had offers about sequels and spinoffs mentioned in their contracts.
I think it would be a real shame not to expand on this young, inexperienced version of Bruce Wayne/Batman, especially because the audience loves this emo-goth Batman, who’s still on the path of figuring out what it takes to be a good vigilante.
But producer Dylan Clark said it would take five years or less for The Batman sequel to see the light of day. Color me shocked as well, five years just feels too long!
Our only comfort is that we’re not leaving Gotham anytime soon—along with the Penguin TV show, Reeves has also expressed interest in making shows circling officer Gordon and Arkham Asylum. Both may cover the events after the movie’s huge flood and anarchist operations.
It is yet unknown if Pattinson or the shadowy figure of Batman will appear on these HBO Max shows, and if not, how his absence will be explained. I will leave that to Reeves’ creative genius.
What will The Batman 2 be about?
Let’s admit it, the Riddler is one heck of a fascinating villain when paired with the dominance of the internet.
Livestreaming his crimes and taking advice from his Twitch followers… it cannot get more relevant than this! I’m sure he plugged in his Patreon in there, too.
So, I’m definitely looking forward to who Batman will face next in the sequel. One could say there is no Batman without the Joker, but I feel like it’s still too early to bring in that kind of showdown, even with the Barry Keoghan tease.
There have also been nods to Hush, Two-Face, Arkham Asylum, and Court of Owls embedded craftily for fans smart enough to decode the clues. Now that Gotham city is in a worse state than ever, it’s anyone’s game to try and conquer it.
