Our Flag Means Death Sets Sail for S2 on HBO Max

Our Flag Means Death is a widely praised rom-com series about pilots, their high-sea adventures, and heartwarming romances. The story is loosely based on gentry Stede Bonnet, who left his life of comfort to become a pirate… even though he did not have the stomach for it!

Fans absolutely love the show and cannot wait for more. So, what is the verdict?

Our Flag Means Death has been renewed for S2 on HBO Max. No other details have been released.

Applauded for their well-depicted LGBTQ+ characters and relationships, it is quite fitting that HBO Max has announced the show’s renewal during Pride Month.

When will Our Flag Means Death S2 air on HBO Max?

Since S1 finished airing only two months ago and renewal is now confirmed in June, the show may have not started filming for the next season yet. As such, there is no confirmed timeline for Season 2.

It is expected that S2 will air no earlier than 2023. On the same lines, it may have ten episodes in total, like in S1.

Most of the main and supporting cast, including Rhys Darby, Taika Waititi, Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Samson Kayo, Con O’Neill, and others are expected to return.

What will S2 be about?

As of now, the S1 finale has only left us with two things to resolve: Having to rescue a stranded Stede and his crew from the deserted island, and taking forward Ed and Stede’s miscommunicated but sweet romance.

The show is certainly inspired by the real-life Bonnet, but not by his actual life events, and thus does not follow it in regards to the story. So, there are no real hints about what S2 will undertake.

Whatever it may be, we’ll certainly be sure to say, “Aye, aye, captain!”
