Only Murders in the Building will return with a season 3. Hulu Originals President announced the renewal in the third week of season 2.

After season 1 unraveled the mystery behind Tim Kono’s death, season 2 delved deeper into the history of Arconia while trying to find Bunny Folger’s murderer. Bunny was Arconia’s Board President, and the podcasters (Charles, Mabel, and Oliver) were framed for her murder.

After just three episodes, the president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, Craig Erwich, announced that the show would be renewed for a third season. He mentioned how the blend of humor and heart has worked across generations, and the studio is grateful to tell more such stories. The show’s official handle tweeted the same, and the fans were pretty happy about it.

Although the official news came in July, Selena Gomez had let it slip in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. While talking about her work schedule, she said that she’d be in the studio till season 3.

In fact, the hints were actually dropped even before this interview. After the filming for season 2 got over, a TikTok video was posted, marking the end of the production process. Gomez wrote, ‘…to a great season 2…’ Steve Martin replied, ‘to a great season 3… well… next year!’

So season 3 has been confirmed, but we do not know much about it. Details such as release date, plot, cast, and characters are yet to be announced. It is more likely that the studio will share these details after season 2 ends.

We are pretty close to finding out who the actual murderer is. After ruling out suspects such as Nina Lin and Howard, we may soon know who the actual killer and their motives were. The season finale will release on 23rd August 2022 on Hulu and Disney+ (in the UK).
