The leaks from chapter 267 have finally confirmed that Nobara is still alive. This would seem like a blessing to those fans of Jujutsu Kaisen who may still be mourning her death. However, knowing the author, Gege Akutami, we can expect nothing but the worst out of the remaining five chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Itadori, Fushiguro, and Nobara will always be one of the best anime trios ever to exist. So, would Gege bring them together one last time? Let us look into the possibilities while exploring the current status of the manga.
Why is the Trio Separated?
The latest chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen have featured Itadori fighting against all odds. However, neither Nobara nor Fushiguro are anywhere to be seen. To anyone who may be a little stuck with the story and doesn’t know what is going on, we’ll break this down for you in simple terms.
What Happened to Nobara?
At the end of season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, during the Shibuya arc, while the special grade curses were rampaging around, most jujutsu sorcerers were out trying to exorcise them. Nobara, too, was one of them.
During Mahito’s and Nobara’s face-off, Mahito decided to kill her in front of Itadori. This was to push Itadori further into despair and because Nobara’s abilities were a risk to him (to anyone who finds Nobara useless, you’re dead wrong).
Mahito’s clone lured Nobara near Yuuji, and swapped positions with the original Mahito, and used idle transfiguration on Nobara’s face.
Although she had seemingly died, there was still a ray of hope because she was rescued in time. However, after that incident, she has never appeared in JJK.
Is Megumi Still Alive?
In chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen, during the culling game arc, the dots finally start connecting as we finally discovered why Sukuna was so interested in Megumi, or rather his…erm, body.
Megumi was vulnerable when he saw his sister’s body taken over by a reincarnated sorcerer. Sukuna took advantage of this moment of weakness, tricked Itadori into giving him control for a second, cut off Itadori’s finger, and forcibly fed it to Megumi. This gave him complete control over Megumi.
To anyone who didn’t understand why Sukuna specifically chose Megumi, it is because he saw Megumi’s innate potential. The ten shadows technique, along with Mahogara, was all Sukuna needed additionally to win his fight against Gojo.
The Ray of Hope
In chapter 266, when Sukuna was taken into Yuuji’s domain, we noticed how Megumi used his ten shadows technique, into which Sukuna accidentally stumbled. This has shown us that Megumi’s soul hasn’t lost yet!
The leaks of the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen have also revealed that Nobara is still alive and kicking. Although no explanation has been given for this yet, we can expect her to stay alive till the end since she is far away from where the action is (let’s just hope she sits tight).
What Are the Odds?
Gege has definitely brought many fans to tears. Many of our favorite characters were purged and the latest chapters have featured nothing but Sukuna being absolutely dominating. With the manga concluding within five chapters, how will Gege redeem himself?
If Jujutsu Kaisen will conclude like any other regular manga, with the protagonist (or his ideals) winning, then bringing our favorite trio together is the best silver lining the series has, considering how grim the situation in the manga currently is.
After Yuuji expanded his domain, things have been tilting in his favor for a while. Fushiguro is showing signs of awakening, and Nobara is back alive and is even helping Itadori with his fight. One could even say Itadori may even win this fight in his domain, but lets not jinx it just yet!

For now, all we fans can do is sit tight and wait as Gege cooks his masterpiece. Let’s cherish these last moments of Jujutsu Kaisen before it concludes by rewatching some of the best scenes and re-reading the manga.
