Halo Infinite is the latest addition to the fan-favorite Halo series set to release around Q4 of 2021. Fans ready to dive into the game are eagerly waiting for the return of the famous protagonist, Master Chief. But that’s not all; from the inclusion of new maps, mechanics, and game modes, Halo Infinite will include tons of new content. So, it was no wonder gamers were lining up for the Alpha and Beta tests before the game’s initial release.
Now that the initial release is drawing near, “Does the game have Co-op?”- is the main question on everyone’s mind. If you’re also curious about this and want to know everything Halo Infinite offers, let me share the details!
Will Halo Infinite Have Co-op?
In a recent Development Update interview, the creative head of 343 Industries shared the details regarding Halo Infinite’s development progress and what fans could expect during launch.
The developer of Halo Infinite shared that the game will not have Campaign Co-op at the game’s initial launch. Forge will not also be included at launch.
The game devs have assured that there won’t be a lack of gameplay modes post-launch, and these modes may be added to the game at a later point in Season 2 and Season 3.
While some fans were thankful for the transparency and truthfulness, others were baffled by the team’s decision of taking away one of the main pillars that made Halo unique. Since the game was already pushed back to a 2021 release, the lack of initial release content is concerning.
Fans are concerned by 343 Industries’ bold decision of following the footsteps of Halo 5 and launching the game with a lack of content.
Halo Infinite Following Halo 5’s Strategy
Halo 5 was a much-awaited game for the fans, thanks to the top-rated Halo series. Promising to continue the legacy, fans had high hopes for the fifth rendition but were left with disappointment after Halo 5 launched without the co-op campaign mode.
This was a terrible move, as most fans thought Halo 5 had a severe lack of content from the initial release.
If Halo Infinite plans to follow Halo 5’s strategy, there is a good chance of receiving backlash from the hardcore Halo fans that were very much in love with the split-screen co-op campaigns.
Will Halo Infinite Have Co-op Post Launch?
The game will surely have a campaign co-op post-launch if Halo infinite is truly following Halo 5’s footsteps. Initially, Halo 5 did not have a campaign co-op mode at launch, but it was soon updated to include an online co-op mode. So, we can rest assured that Halo Infinite will do the same.
Forge, the level editing mode, will also be likely available post-launch or during the game’s third season.
Although, it’s a shame that the nostalgic split-screen Halo co-op will not be making a return, I think an online co-op is still better than nothing, right?
Will Halo Infinite Have Cross-play?
Like every new FPS game currently on the market, Halo Infinite will also have cross-play enabled. Cross-play will allow gamers from different gaming platforms (e.g., one from PC and one from Xbox) to play together in a multiplayer lobby. Halo Infinite will be available on PC via Steam and on consoles like Xbox Series X.
I know the lack of co-op during the initial launch might make some players stay away from Halo Infinite, but the new mechanics and free-to-play multiplayer might make up for it, even if it’s just a little bit. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
