Following the highly anticipated release of the latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans across the globe find themselves captivated by many unanswered questions.
Why were we suddenly just thrown into Gojo’s past? How is it relevant to the overall plot that takes place in the future? And the most crucial question is: Will Gojo be Sealed in this Season? Let’s find out.
Gojo will most likely be sealed at the end of the current season. The season could also end on a cliffhanger, keeping the viewers wondering whether our hero survives the sudden ambush.
What arc/s is Season 2 adapted from?
The Season 2 of Jujutsu kaisen Anime will air for two continuous cours and adapt the manga’s “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” (also known as Gojo’s Past arc) and “Shibuya Incident” story arcs.
Gojo’s Past Arc
This arc has been split into two arcs in the anime adaptation; the first half is known as the “Hidden Inventory” arc, while the latter is the “Premature Death” arc.
Hidden Inventory Arc
This is the manga arc that the current airing episodes are based on.
The primary antagonist of the arc is Toji Fushiguro.
Despite being a minor character, he is very significant to the story. Toji has no personal feud with Gojo and Geto. And yet, he stands in their way after taking on a mission to assassinate Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel.
Anime-only fans may be unaware, but Toji is one of the strongest characters in the entire series despite having zero cursed energy.
He is the upgraded version of Maki Zenin, born with a Heavenly Restricted Body. On top of having superhuman physical strength and speed, Toji has enhanced five senses that allow him to interact with curses just like any sorcerer.
Toji uses cursed tools to fight and has many weapons in his arsenal. However, he cannot carry them physically and switches between them mid-battle. Therefore, Toji has a contract with a cursed spirit called the “Inventory Curse.”
It is a low-level curse that Toji wraps around his neck while fighting. With the curse’s help, Toji can freely interchange his weapons by putting them in and taking them out of the spirit’s mouth.
While Toji is certainly super strong, it’s safe to say that Gojo will not be sealed in this arc as he simply lacks the motive or the means to do so.
Premature Death Arc
This arc is adapted from chapters 76,77,78,79 of the Manga. The story takes place one year after the Hidden Inventory arc.
After failing to protect the Star plasma Vessel Candidate, Riko Amanai, Toji killed Riko and severely injured Satoru and Suguru, despite having no cursed energy.
This event profoundly impacted both Satoru and Suguru, who questioned their role as sorcerers and their relationship with each other. Satoru decided to become stronger and more confident, while Suguru became disillusioned and cynical.
Suguru then met Yuki Tsukumo, a sorcerer who traveled around the world and had a different perspective on jujutsu. She told him about her theory of cursed energy and how the collective unconscious of humans influenced it.
She also invited him to join her in finding a way to change the world. Suguru accepted Yuki’s offer and traveled with her to Africa, where they encountered a group of poachers hunting endangered animals.
Yuki told him that he should not judge people based on their actions alone but also consider their circumstances and feelings. He started to believe that sorcerers were superior to non-sorcerers and that killing the latter was the only way to evolution.
This arc focuses more on the character development of the MCs rather than any defining plot points. Respectively, Gojo was sealed in this arc.
The Shibuya Incident. Where it all takes place.
The Shibuya Incident arc is the sixth arc in jujutsu kaisen manga. It follows the events of October 31, 2018, when an alliance of cursed spirits and curse users led by Pseudo-Geto and Mahito launched a major terrorist attack in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Their main goal was to seal Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer in the world, inside a cursed object called Prison Realm. They also planned to cause chaos and destruction in Shibuya by releasing powerful curses and manipulating civilians.
The arc involves many battles and conflicts between the attackers and the jujutsu sorcerers who tried to stop them. It also has many deaths and casualties on both sides, but, as the Shibuya Incident is a central key point, I will not spoil them for you.
The arc ends with Kenjaku escaping with Prison Realm and Gojo inside it. He also reveals his plan to create a new world where humans and curses are one. The jujutsu sorcerers are left in shock and despair, after losing their most potent ally and many comrades.
