Appearances can be deceiving in Ousama Rankings, and Bojji — of all people — is no exception. Despite his disability, he shows promise that he can fight!
The most recent episodes of Ousama Rankings confirmed to us that Bojji has completed the “Despa Arts” swordsmanship training. And what do you know: this prince — this tiny prince — wields a rapier (a needle-like sword) that enhances his strength!
From medieval castles to underworld visits to training boot camps, nothing’s gonna stop little Prince Bojji from becoming the strongest character in the show!
Will Bojji get Stronger in Ousama Rankings?
As we’ve seen in the latest episodes of Ousama Rankings, Bojji does get stronger in the series, but not through brute force. Rather, his strength lies in his agility and in the Despa Arts techniques that his martial arts master taught him.
Bojji even mastered the weapon that suits him the most — a rapier (a medieval needle-looking sword) fit for a little swift prince like him.
Who’s training Bojji to become stronger?
Prince Despa is training Bojji to become stronger. He is “the man who’d make Bojji the strongest” according to Kage (who probably heard everything about Despa from BeBin). Despa might seem like a con artist at first, but he’s responsible for elevating Bojji’s fighting prowess.
As the younger brother to King Desha (the Underworld King), Prince Despa knows his place in the royal family. Instead of seeking accommodations in one of his older brother’s palace towers, he lived in a modest house on the outskirts of a humble town.
They’re probably living under two different roofs due to King Desha’s envy of Despa’s good looks. While Prince Despa boasts a handsome “camel-looking” face (according to the Agan Troll Brothers who bullied him in the tavern), King Desha’s face is ugly and distorted.
He hates it so much that he even smashed the face of the bronze statue that’s been erected for him!
Out of the kindness of his heart (probably), Despa decided to live away from his brother. It will do them good as Desha won’t have to see Despa’s handsome face often, and it will help Despa concentrate on his studies (whether that be the “Despa Arts”, martial arts, or swordsmanship).
Other than his narcissistic personality and greed, Despa values wisdom by a large margin. This is evident when he instructed Bojji to read several books about swordsmanship and martial arts. Had Bojji not strengthened his mental fortitude by reading those books, this little prince wouldn’t be as strong as he is now!
Whenever Bojji’s not studying, he’d run or jog in the forest. With a workout routine that he’s following every morning, Bojji ensures he follows Despa’s training regimen completely to compensate for his lack of physical strength. That’s why, when Kage peeked into the secluded training room, he was shocked as Bojji managed to cut a boulder in half perfectly!
What is Bojji’s secret weapon?
Bojji’s secret weapon is a rapier — a needle-looking sword that is easy to carry and wield for a small boy lacking physical brute force like him.
But before picking the rapier, he saw a claymore sword and some axes. He thought the claymore sword would be too big for him. And if his weapon is too heavy for him to carry, the citizens he should be protecting would only laugh at him for being weak.
Axes are a different story — the large ax he saw even reminded Bojji of King Bosse, his gigantic and mighty father! When Bojji picked the small ax, he accidentally dropped it and it almost cut him. Had Despa not caught it, the ax would have cut Bojji’s face!
Instead of going for the claymore sword or the small ax, Bojji’s eyes finally landed on the perfect weapon he believed he could wield perfectly with his small stature — the rapier.
Even as they entered the weaponry, Despa thought of this sword as the perfect one for Bojji. Instead of pinpointing the rapier to Bojji, Despa allowed Bojji to seek it by going around the weaponry collection room and choosing the weapon that’s suited for a boy his size.
Many viewers would agree that a rapier is just the perfect weapon for Bojji: it’s light, it has a thin blade, and best of all, it can puncture his enemies without needlessly hurting them (ensuring that his opponents are only “out cold” while preserving their lives).
The “Despa Arts” also concentrate on punching the weak spots of the opponents. In Episode 10, the Agan Brother trolls’ weak spots were their jaws. So, to knock them out without completely hurting them, Bojji aimed for their jaws.
After Despa checked each knocked-out troll’s status, he praised Bojji saying that they’re still alive and only “out cold” (making Bojji the winner of that staged duel).
Bojji also learned swift dodging techniques from Mitsumata (the giant two-headed snake of BeBin, the spymaster). But under the guidance of Despa, the “Despa Arts” techniques increased his mental fortitude and agility tenfold!
In addition to martial arts, Despa taught the young prince several swordsmanship styles specifically suited for Prince Bojji’s little but swift body. That’s how Bojji was able to knock out the rowdy Agan Brothers trolling around the tavern. What a cool way for him to defeat some trolls!
Can Bojji become a Giant like his father?
There haven’t been many hints that Bojji will become a giant like his father — the mighty King Bosse — by the end of the anime.
Nor were there any hints in the anime’s recent episodes that Bojji’s original strength (the strength and power that King Bosse stole through the Devil’s Deal) will return to him.
But Bojji found another way to acquire strength. He might be deaf, mute, and weak, but Despa continually taught him to hold his head up high. If he allowed people to constantly mock him, he wouldn’t acquire sufficient courage to face difficult challenges.
Despite Bojji lacking a muscular body like his father, Bojji’s strength lies in his pure heart. He might be a weakling now, but he has gained the trust of many allies — Kage, Queen Hilling, Hokuro, Domas, BeBin, Mitsumata, Dorshe, etc.
Surely, becoming a giant at this point won’t benefit Bojji. He’s compensating for his lack of physical strength under Despa’s swordsmanship training.
And if he did become a giant by the end of anime, he wouldn’t be able to interact properly with the humans as he’d be looking at them often from a high vantage point.
At this point, Bojji becoming a giant would be a disadvantage rather than a benefit. The human friends he had made would be difficult to connect with as he’s only interacted with them via sign language.

The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
