I’m sure we can all agree that Battlefield 2042 is one of the most anticipated games releasing this year. Based on the premise of a world in the future, Battlefield 2042, like its name suggests, is a first-person shooter that drops its players on a battlefield, but this time with futuristic weapons. That’s right! You can cause the same mayhem as you did in the previous games of the Battlefield franchise, but this time with possibly better guns.
As much as we love a good old run and gun aspect of any first-person shooter, Battlefield 2042’s release announcement has already brought some questions to our minds. The major question everyone has that whether Battlefield 2042 would have crossplay? If you’re also wondering the same, here’s all your questions answered.
Will Battlefield 2042 Have Crossplay?
Yes, Battlefield 2042 has planned on providing crossplay, a.k.a cross-platform gaming options for PC and NextGen consoles players. In addition, the game devs have planned on providing a crossplay and multiplayer facility across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S users.
This crossplay plan is still in its early stages and will be a test and run the simulation by the development team until fully confirmed to be successful. However, you do have to keep in mind that PS4 and Xbox One users will have to resort to competing only against each other.
But some of you might be scratching your brain right now wondering what is this “crossplay” I am talking about, right? Well, let me explain.
What is Crossplay in Battlefield 2042?
Crossplay basically means cross-platform video gaming where two people of different gaming platforms (e.g., one PC gamer and one PS5) will be able to play against each other in Battlefield 2042. This will allow people to play from their own respective consoles without having issues with platform restrictions.
So, you and all your friends can enjoy and have a fantastic time with Battlefield 2042 and all its different multiplayer modes.
All Battlefield 2042 Multiplayer Modes
Battlefield 2042 has been revealed to have three main multiplayer game modes for players to enjoy. They are:
- All-Out-Warzone – This game mode will feature 128 players fighting for victory on a well-spaced map. Whereas for Xbox One and PS4 users, the number of players will be capped to 340348, and the map will also be shortened.
- Hazard Zone– This mode will have more intense situations thrown at players.
- Portal Mode – This mode will have a mixture of Battlefield maps from the past and the present. Players will probably be able to reminiscent the past games from the Battlefield franchise.
Other than that, there have already been leaks confirming that these modes are only the tip of the iceberg for this upcoming game.
So, cross-platform or not, all I can say is Battlefield 2042 will be an epic adventure, and I honestly can’t wait to see what other new technology we soldiers can use in the game’s post-apocalyptic future!
About Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.
The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
