When Barry Allen made his way into the year 2031, the last thing he expected to see was Iris with Eobard Thawne and his fellow Arrowverse heroes making him feel unwelcomed—but that’s how the new reality was at the end of Armageddon Part 3. Ever since Despero revealed in Part 1 that Barry would bring about the end of the world, strange things have been happening to him, making him question his sanity.
Black Lightning turned up in the last episode and said he had faith in the speedster, suspecting that someone was manipulating him somehow.
Now, new photos from Armageddon Part 4 strongly suggest that Eobard Thawne might just be the master manipulator behind it all. The photos see Barry as the Reverse-Flash, wearing the villain’s mustard-yellow suit and Thawne, the original Reverse-Flash, wearing Barry’s red suit.
Barry’s Reverse-Flash costume also had a slight update and looks like a replica of The Flash’s suit, just in a different color scheme.
Eobard had always been hell-bent on destroying Barry’s life and is always jealous of him because he can never be faster than Barry.
Maybe, with Armageddon, Eobard has found a way to take everything away from Barry, as everyone seemed less than happy to see him in the future. In the promo for the upcoming episode, Thawne is heard saying, “I won, I finally won. Who’s faster now?”
Speaking to CBR last month, The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace teased Eddie Thawne’s return and how he could sabotage Barry’s future,
Well, first of all, to temper expectations, Eddie is not in Armageddon. Eddie is part of a separate graphic novel. We have three graphic novels this year in Season 8. Knock on wood if we can pull off this gargantuan feat, but they all spin out of Armageddon.
So at the end of last season, Reverse-Flash—he’s a pretty pissed-off dude. Why? Because The Flash is faster now. If there’s one question that Armageddon answers, it’s, ‘Well, if you can’t outrun your foe, what do you do to beat him?’ That’s where Eobard Thawne will start in Armageddon.
The synopsis for Armageddon Part 4 reveals that Damien Darhk will offer Barry some advice but it comes with a catch as “an epic battle begins” with Team Flash going up against Reverse-Flash.
Fans have their hopes up for Armageddon, with a lot of them even claiming Season 8 to be the best one after years of disappointing storylines.
The Flash: Armageddon Part 4 will premiere on The CW on December 7.
