Ash and Go have recently started exploring the Unova region, and fate takes them to a ruined land filled with pokemon possessing strength beyond their imaginations. Ash also finally managed to catch a Dragonite.
However, when it comes to Ghost-type Pokemon, Ash’s luck was never great. The last time Ash faced Gengar, back in Episode 182, it gave a tough fight to Ash’s Noctowl.
Twitter user @AnipokeHub confirms that in the upcoming episode, Ash will finally capture a Gengar.
So Gengar appeared once again at the end of the episode, next week it’ll be the reason the systems are down at the lab, and in the following episode Gengar will be caught… 100% Ash will get it, they wouldn’t give a wild Pokémon that much attention for any other reason #anipoke pic.twitter.com/v11ZaReKdY

In Pokemon Sun and Moon, in the final round of the Fog Gym Battle, Morty sends Gengar for battle. Gengar surprises everyone when it disappears in thin air and was still able to use Night Shade. It was clear that Noctowl needs to use Foresight at any cost.
Ash comes up with a strategy and tells Noctowl to send Confusion through the building. This revealed Gengar and Noctowl were finally able to see it and use Foresight on it. After hitting the ceiling, Gengar goes unconscious, awarding Ash the Fog gym badge.
However, a Shadow Ball Gengar won’t be a joke, and Ash will have to use his best skills to capture one.
