Patience is a virtue, but we’re not sure how much longer we’ll be able to hold out if The CW keeps on making us wait some more for new episodes of Superman & Lois.
Just recently, fans of the series had to wait for an excruciatingly long period of three weeks during the Winter Olympics in February—and now the series is on another short hiatus.
Originally expected to air this Tuesday, i.e., March 15, Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 8, titled Into Oblivion, was shifted to a week later on March 22.
Replacing this week’s new episode of Superman & Lois is the rerun of Season 2 Episode 4, titled The Inverse Method.
Thankfully, the break isn’t as long as the Winter Olympics hiatus, yet fans were left wondering what the reason for this delay was.
A reasonable explanation would be that The CW is trying to catch up The Flash with Superman & Lois to keep the schedules of the two shows in sync. As The Flash airs its S8E7 tonight, March 16, next week, both the shows will air their respective eighth episodes.
Season 1 of Superman & Lois faced tons of rescheduling as well, but COVID-related filming delays were to blame for those. As the CW returns to its regular schedule, the network has switched things up to avoid having the broadcast packed with too many Arrowverse shows.
The network also likes to keep the episode counts for these series in line with each other as Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow also premiered on the same date and went on a hiatus simultaneously. (via Screenrant)
Another more storyline-related reason behind this might be the possibility of Arrowverse crossover events so that neither shows that are on air together fall behind in terms of plot, failing to keep up with the other’s timeline.
Just before the Winter break, The Flash ended its five-part Armageddon event, which featured quite a few characters from the Arrowverse stopping by for their cameos. So there’s always a possibility that Superman & Lois might someday take this route, too.
You can catch Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 8 when it returns on The CW at 8:00 pm ET on March 22.
