Satoru Gojō is the most popular and most favored character of every Jujutsu Kaisen fan. He is playful, fun-loving, and cool. And no matter how you look at him, he’s unbeatable.
But what makes him unbeatable in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen? Why does he possess powers that even the protagonist, Yūji Itadori, can’t match?
And did he ever wear white blindfolds in the Jujutsu Kaisen series? We know he often wears black blindfolds in the anime. So, what gives?
Come one, come all! Today, allow me to enlighten your minds on the most enigmatic and stylish character of the series: Satoru Gojō!
Satoru Gojō’s eye patch is white in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie because he was wearing bandages at that time (which occurred in the Year 2017).
Why bandages out of all the coverings that could have been available to him? Well, perhaps it’s just something he took out on a whim.
The manga doesn’t dive into the exact reason why he picked white bandages at that time. But it is what it is. He needs coverings for his eyesight so he can exorcise curses immediately; that’s what matters.
By the time the 1st arc of Season 1 of the anime took place in July 2018, almost a year had passed after the prequel film. Satoru’s financial status improved because he had already exorcised many curses.
This allowed him to finally purchase items so he can sport looks that can match his fun-loving style (e.g., round & black-tinted sunglasses, black blindfolds).
Black blindfolds are, of course, not the norm for ordinary people. But Satoru needs his eyesight to be completely blocked to suppress even just a little bit of his extraordinary powers.
Why does Satoru Gojō need to be blindfolded?
Satoru needs the blindfolds to curtail his extraordinary powers. In addition, if he exposes his Six Eyes for long periods, he quickly experiences fatigue.
As you all well know, Gojō’s “Six Eyes” (or “Rokugan”), possesses godlike powers through perception and awareness because the limits of human senses are removed (hence, the power “Limitless” or “Infinite”).
He can vastly scan minute cursed energy in his surroundings because his brain processes the information down to the atomic level.
This implies to the readers that Satoru Gojō is no extraordinary sorcerer because he can see the atoms and molecules of humans when talking to them. That would drive anyone insane!
To slightly diminish the perceptive and awareness powers of “The Six Eyes” and to utilize his “Limitless” or “Infinite” jujutsu efficiently, he needs deterrents like blindfolds, black-tinted sunglasses, or bandages that completely cover his sight.
If he covers his eyesight, he’d still possess some level of control before unleashing his malevolent curses against his enemies.
Make note that he can still see despite the coverage he wears. Fighting with blindfolds, sunglasses, or bandages is not a big deal for him. He can still attack his enemies because his superhuman eyesight allows him to gain perception and awareness beyond the coverings.
Besides, if he removes his blindfolds, Satoru Gojō’s powers would surpass any antagonist of the series (Toji Fushiguro, Suguru Getō, etc.). He’s that strong and powerful.
Many fans think he is the strongest character in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, and they’re not wrong as Satoru’s powers are immense even though they’re oftentimes dangerous.
