Outriders has been delayed yet again. Developer People Can Fly took to Twitter to announce the delay. The game will now be released in April 2021. Meanwhile, the players may get a free demo soon.
Outriders is a co-op third-person shooter being developed by People Can Fly, who have earlier developed Bulletstorm (2011) and Gears of War: Judgement (2013). Initially slated for release in the summer of 2020, it has now been delayed thrice.
According to the developers, they are using this extra time to fine-tune the game for cross-play support across all platforms. But the players waiting for the game after its gorgeous Gamescom 2020 trailer will be getting a chance to play it before the official release.
The developers announced via Twitter that Outriders would be released on April 1, 2021. Meanwhile, a free demo will be available for the players on February 25. The demo will have the first few hours of gameplay with all four available classes. It will be playable in both co-op and single-player mode.
The players who play the free demo can easily migrate their progress onto the full game when it is released.
Furthermore, the developers are also giving a free upgrade to corresponding next-gen consoles to players who purchase Outriders for PS4 or Xbox One. With full support for cross-play across all platforms, the players can team up their friends no matter what.
After the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020 by CD Projekt Red, the developers of Outriders have made a smart move by delaying the game to ensure the best launch that they possibly can.
It shows that they are aware of the gaming industry right now. If they can reduce the errors, issues, and bugs utilizing this extra time, it will go a long way in maintaining their relationship with their customers.
For the uninitiated, Outriders is a co-op third-person shooter that sends the players on a perilous journey to Planet Enoch in a familiar team-based setup typical to many current co-op shooter titles.
People Can Fly’s past works have been received very well among the players, and Outriders is shaping up to be a strong entry into the third-person co-op shooting genre. Although it is delayed for the third time, the demo will help create enough buzz and help sell the game to those still unsure.
