A new Spider-Man: No Way Home TV Spot has been released. Doc Ock and Spidey make for well-matched opponents, all thanks to their extra appendages.
Doc Ock’s tentacles have become a staple to most Spider-Man 3 promos. The new TV Spot shows him tackling Peter, mocking him with “Do you think your fancy new suit is going to save you?”
Understandably, Peter is very confused during this fight, wondering not only how Doc Ock knows him, but also why he has a personal grudge against Spidey. Watch it here:
We get another taste of Peter’s Iron Spider suit, which seems to impress Doc Ock as well.
Just like in Raimi’s adaptation, here too, Doc Ock is able to communicate with his tentacles, informing them that “[it] looks like we’ve got competition,” when Peter activates his own mechanical appendages from the Iron Spider suit.
This for sure is a fight I want to witness!
The TV Spot also confirms a few other speculations — Doc Ock definitely knows another version of Peter since he seems to recognize this is a new suit. In an interview with Variety, Alfred Molina had also stated that he was playing the same version of Doc Ock from the Raimi movies.
However, Doc Ock’s story ended with a redemption, where he fights off the wicked influences of his tentacles and sacrifices himself by taking down his nuclear reactor. So, it begs the question: if this is the same Doc Ock who made peace with Peter, why is he so hot on fighting him in the MCU?
Throwing my own speculation into the ring, it seems as though Doc Ock’s entry announces that there will be more like him coming for MCU Peter’s throat. Peter understands their predicament and wants to make peace with the Sinister Six.
As many fans have pointed out, Doc Ock is nowhere to be seen fighting alongside the Sinister Six. Perhaps, after his initial confusion and lashing out at Peter (as we see in the TV Spot), Doc Ock comes to realize the mess that the multiverse has created and hopefully joins hands with Peter.
Be it opponents or allies, Spider-Man and Doc Ock sure would make an ideal pair.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is intended to be the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The film was directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. He is joined by Zendaya, J,B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina. The film is not yet available for streaming on Disney+ but the BluRay package is set to arrive March 22.
It will pick up from the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home whose ending revealed Peter’s Spider-Man identity to the world. Numerous villains from previous movies such as Doctor Octopus and Electro are also set to return.
