Why did Seth MacFarlane scrap ‘Ted 3’ to make a prequel series?

It’s been eight years since we last saw Mark Wahlberg chilling with a beer and a bear on a couch. But don’t worry, Ted fans, because the furry and funny duo is returning to our screens soon.

Seth MacFarlane is bringing us a hilarious prequel series showing how John Bennett and Ted became best buddies for life. MacFarlane will voice the naughty and witty Ted again, and Max Burkholder will play a young John.

Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach will also star as John’s parents, who must deal with their son’s unusual friend. Get ready for some wild and wacky adventures with Ted!

The six-episode prequel series will show us how John and Ted deal with high school, dating, and the future. Ted may be a naughty bear, but he’s also a loyal friend who will stick with John through thick and thin.

The series promises to be a hilarious and heart-warming ride that will make us fall in love with Ted all over again.

We don’t know when it will hit the screens, but we can’t wait to see more of the bear who made us laugh and cry at the same time!

Ted 3 was greatly delayed because of unanticipated legal trouble. A company in California claimed that MacFarlane stole their idea of a talking teddy bear who loves beer and sued him after Ted came out. It took a long time for them to drop the case and let MacFarlane off the hook.

Meanwhile, Ted 2 didn’t do so well at the box office, making Ted 3 less appealing for the makers. That’s why MacFarlane decided to go for a different route and make a prequel series instead.

Ted 2 tried to repeat the same jokes and ideas from Ted, but they didn’t work the second time around.

Even a crazy plan to steal Tom Brady’s “essence” couldn’t save it from endless boredom. The story was about Ted and his wife (Jessica Barth) wanting to adopt a kid, but the sequel failed to learn anything from part 1.

John (Wahlberg) was still the same immature guy he was before, with zero-character development. Ted 2’s tendency to double down on the humor elements from the first film without any work on the characters caused its downfall.

Making a Ted prequel series is a smart move by MacFarlane as it will allow fans to see Ted and John in a new light.

It will also help new actors shine and give the makers a lot of space for proper character development. A prequel can also avoid some sad endings that Ted 3 might have had, like Ted dying or John kicking him out.

Instead, it can have more fun and creative stories to make the franchise more meaningful. It will be awesome to see Ted in the early ’90s when Mark Wahlberg was rocking as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

That’s why a Ted prequel series is an excellent idea that fans should look forward to.
