Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is out now, and many unanticipated events have occurred. The first movie didn’t shy away from killing off important characters, and the sequel isn’t any different, either.
After T’Challa’s death, the viewers didn’t predict the demise of another member of the royal family. However, one year after T’Challa’s demise, Wakanda was shaken by the death of another significant character. It was Queen Ramonda, T’Challa’s mother!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the saga of Wakanda’s war with the Talokan ruler, Namor. Queen Ramonda and Shuri refuse to be allies with Namor, and he takes Shuri and scientist Riri Williams hostage. Nakia rescues them and kills two guards in the process.
This entire fiasco triggers Namor to declare war between the two kingdoms, sending a flood toward Wakanda.
Queen Ramonda’s palace also gets flooded in the process. She manages to save Riri but drowns tragically in the process.
Queen Ramonda’s death is tragic, and the entire kingdom mourns for her. The Queen gets a similar funeral to T’Challa, getting her face engraved in a customized coffin where she rests in peace.
How does her death affect the events of Wakanda?
Queen Ramonda’s death ultimately triggers Shuri to take up the mantle and become the next Black Panther.
Shuri recreates the Heart-Shaped Herb from a bracelet given by Namor. The Heart-Shaped herb is a special kind of plant with the energy of vibranium required for someone to become Black Panther.
The herb takes her to the Ancestral Planes, where previous Black panthers roamed around as great felines. She meets the nefarious Erik Killmonger, who encourages her to declare war on the Talokans and avenge her mother’s death.
She ultimately goes on to defeat Namor in a great battle but doesn’t kill him. She does that to keep the peace between the kingdoms and not to repeat Killmonger’s mistakes.
Without Queen Ramonda, Shuri will have to bear the weight of Wakanda alone in the third installment of the series. But she may not be alone for long as the post-credit scene in Black Panther: Wakanda forever introduces us to someone special!
