This is the final season of Peaky Blinders and I’m sure the show has planned something truly unique to jar its fans. The new season will see Tommy frantically searching for his hidden archenemy and simultaneously trying to expand his business empire.
Another former Shelby that has risen up the ranks is Michael, who does find himself set up as the show’s antagonist this season. As the two are expected to spar, is it possible that one of them dies in season 6?
Tommy Shelby won’t die in Peaky Blinders S6, as series creator Steven Knight has confirmed his role in the movie. This leaves the possibility of another main character dying, like Michael Gray, who has been making a lot of ill-informed decisions.
I’m not saying that either one of them will die, but if I had to wager a bet on who’s more likely — It would be Michael. Let’s get into why:
Tommy Shelby Will Appear in the Peaky Blinders Movie
I find it unlikely that Tommy will die in season 6, especially because series creator Steven Knight has confirmed that both he and Arthur will be in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
I know there are plenty of theories that Tommy will eventually die, but unless Knight was straight-up lying, I think we won’t see Tommy’s demise until the movie or whatever spin-offs intended after. My best guess is that his life will be wrapped up in the movie.
Besides this, I think the franchise needs Tommy to be alive for the movie, for the same reasons they needed him for all the seasons — He is Peaky Blinders’ driving force. If he is cut at the end of season 6, it’s going to be quite difficult to get fans invested in the movie.
Will Michael Gray die in Season 6?
Michael has always been far too ambitious with too much pride and lacking any reliable plans. He messed up big during his time as head of Shelby Enterprises in the USA, and dug an even more irredeemable hole when he declared he wanted to be the company’s head.
Since the end of season 5, Michael has turned into one of Tommy’s adversaries. In S6 episode 1, we see that Tommy is clearly aware of this and intends to one-up Michael with the whole Jack Nelson scheme.
Going by Michael’s previous actions, I find it unlikely that he will be able to outsmart Tommy. Or, he might make reckless plans that end up harming his loved ones or/and himself.
Peaky Blinders is not shy about killing its main characters (still recovering from John Boy’s death), so while it may not kill the season’s yet unrevealed big villain, it may do away with Michael.
About Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders is a British period crime drama television series created by Steven Knight. Set in Birmingham, England, the series follows the exploits of the Shelby crime family and their leader Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in the direct aftermath of the First World War.
The fictional family is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name, active in the city from the 1890s to the early 20th century. It stars Cillian Murphy, Sam Claflin, Aidan Gillen, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, and Tom Hardy
Netflix, under a deal with Weinstein Company and Endemol, acquired the rights to release the show in the United States and around the world. In January 2021, it was announced that the sixth series would be the last, followed by a spin-off film. The final series was broadcast in 2022.
