Eternals movies introduced us to a new set of Avengers-like characters who have always been a team.
The MCU promised us some of the most powerful characters in the universe whose strengths could even surpass the existing heroes such as Thor and Captain Marvel.
While the movies showcased these ethereal beings and their prowess to save the planet from celestial events, they did not introduce us to the strongest characters from the comics.
In the comics, certain Eternals characters are far more powerful than those in the movie.
When I dug deep into comic book history, I was fascinated by the sheer versatility of each character and the extent of their strengths. So, here’s a list of the top 15 strongest Eternals characters from the comics.
15Sprite
Sprite’s character is far more versatile in Marvel comics than in the MCU. Her powers include matter manipulation, teleportation, and even telekinesis.
However, Sprite’s biggest strength is illusions. She has practiced this skill for centuries and can now create illusions that are so real they can also alter memories.
14Eros/Starfox
Starfox has powers like the rest of the Eternals, but his above-average intelligence sets him apart. His mind is created such that he has to take lesser effort to master a specific skill compared to a fellow Eternal.
Furthermore, Starfox can alter gravity around him, make people fall in love, and access the pleasure centers in our minds. He can activate them to make one feel euphoric, enamored, or even sedated.
13Ard-Con
Ard-Con is an interesting Eternal with unique qualities that could be called strengths. The Kree Eternal is immune to Starfox’s mind tricks, can live without food or water for millennia, alter the size and mass of matter, and gain strength from nuclear energy.
His biggest offensive superpowers include projecting energy blasts that can take Thor down and creating force fields around himself.
12Over-mind/Grom
As the name suggests, Over-mind’s most prominent strengths are oriented with his mind. The Eternal can perform telepathy and even control people’s minds to a certain extent.
Besides this, he is also adept with telekinetic abilities, which allow him to project energy blasts and energize himself in a battle.
11Interloper
Interloper can manipulate cosmic energy in multivarious ways, and his potential remains unknown. He can manifest it in the form of lasers from his eyes or as other energy forms such as light, heat, and electromagnetism.
Besides these, the character possesses psionic abilities and can teleport himself. However, his biggest strength lies in inducing fear amongst the beings around him.
He doesn’t even have to show them their face. Sometimes his fear-inducing capability is so high that people are immobilized and can’t turn to look at him.
Using all these psionic abilities is not always possible for the Interloper. So he gets physically tired from time to time but recovers quickly.
10Zuras
Zuras was one of the strongest Eternals of his lifetime. He could manipulate cosmic energy better than his peers in various ways.
These include projecting energy beams through his eyes and hands, vaporizing objects, manifesting lightning, forming protect force shields, and more.
Besides all these powers, what truly made him strong was his ability to start creating the Uni-mind. It was a feat no other Eternal during his lifetime could accomplish.
9Ajak
Ajak is one of the Prime Eternals who led the team to fulfill the Celestial missions for a brief period.
Her physical powers and strengths are limited because she’s devoted most of her life to learning to communicate with higher beings such as the celestials.
She possesses the same powers as most Eternals but to a slightly higher degree. These include superhuman strength, agility, stamina, endurance, flight, cosmic energy manipulation, and molecular manipulation.
8Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh is one of the most powerful Earth Eternals who is sometimes presented as a God. A master in hand-to-hand combat and weapons, Gilgamesh is formidable in a battle.
His powers include manifesting cosmic energy as exoskeletons, energy blasts, and more. Besides these, he’s adept with teleportation and telekinesis.
7Sersi
Sersi was never innately powerful despite all her abilities. She is one of those Eternals whose maximum potential came out during a crisis when people needed her. This can also be seen in the movie Eternals.
Sersi’s powers include matter transmutation, telekinesis, flight, and cosmic energy projection. However, her most significant strength is creating illusions like Sprite, projecting images in her head for people to visualize what she sees, and telepathy.
6Makkari
Makkari’s a speedster but has other Eternals powers to compliment her abilities. While she can create cyclones by running in circles, she can also complement this by creating illusions, reshaping objects, and projecting energy blasts.
When you put all these together, it is bound to overwhelm the opponent in a battle. Besides all these, she can also teleport and possesses a certain degree of telekinetic ability.
5Thena
Thena is a weapons master whose skills in hand-to-hand combat can come close to Gilgamesh.
She can manipulate cosmic energy to produce light, heat, and energy blasts. Besides this, she can also manifest any weapon at her will, even during battles almost instantaneously.
Like other Eternals, she is also adept with teleportation, telekinesis, and telepathy, but her most significant strength is being a formidable and disciplined warrior.
4Ikaris
Ikaris is like Superman on steroids. He can fly 1.1 times faster than light, teleport himself, read people’s minds, create illusions, manipulate cosmic energy in multiple ways, and even form the Uni-mind.
One can even say that he’s gotten the best of most Eternals, and their qualities have all been packed into him.
3Thane
Thane is a combination of Inhumans and Eternals because his mother is an Inhuman and his father is Thanos, an Eternal. This makes his powers incredibly versatile and makes him a powerful being.
Thane’s death touch could kill people around him within a certain radius almost instantly. A quality Thanos wish he’d possessed. Furthermore, he can also project amber constructs that can entrap people into a state of living death.
If all this wasn’t enough to make him deadly, he is also capable of interstellar travel, resurrection, telepathy, telekinesis, and temporal manipulation.
2Thanos
Thanos is the second strongest Eternal who surpasses almost all other Titanian Eternals in terms of intelligence and strength. He possesses all the Eternal powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, energy manipulation, matter transmutation, and more.
But his greatest accomplishment is wielding all the six infinity stones and bringing ‘balance’ to the universe.
1Kronos
Kronos is the strongest Eternal character in the comics. He is a cosmic presence who has an elevated awareness that surpasses all beings. He controls deceased mortals and even has control over the flow of time.
Kronos was one of the most intelligent scientists whose experiment went wrong, turning him into a cloud of dust and a cosmic being.
Considered to be a dimension higher than the Eternals, his powers are not even fully known to the characters within this universe. Some people compare him to the Celestials even though he isn’t as strong as them.
