Yashahime has finally brought out its first major villain, and the plot is finally starting to move forward.
As a show about the next generation, Yashahime’s audience basically consists of fans who watch it for nostalgia, quite similar to what’s happening with Boruto at the moment.
While there have been complaints about the overuse and recycling of third class villains from Inuyasha, and no plot development, things are finally taking a turn.
Episode 15 of Yashahime shed light on Moroha, Setsuna, and Towa’s past and officially aired its very first major villain.
1. Who is the New Villain in Yashahime?
The new villain in Yashahime is Kirinmaru, a great demon that rules over the east. He worked alongside Toga to destroy the remnants of the Grim Comet and went into a deep slumber.
Kirinmaru is said to possess Immense Demonic Power that could allow him to rival Toga in his prime. With his top subordinates, the Four Perils, and his elder sister, Zero, managing things for him, Kirinmaru had been asleep for ages.
In the recent episode, Zero woke him up in order to kill Sesshomaru and Inuyasha’s children.
Before the Shikon Jewel was destroyed, it prophesied that an existence that is neither human nor demon would be Kirinmaru’s downfall. It further stated that this being could surpass time and would ultimately kill him.
This prophecy is the reason why Kirinmaru desires the deaths of the half-demons – Towa, Setsuna, and the quarter-demon, Moroha.
After being awakened, he was joined by Sesshomaru, both of whom went to confront Inuyasha and Kagome, aiming to kill their child. Fortunately, Kagome sent Moroha away right before the fight, ensuring her survival.
From these set of events, Kirinmaru has established himself as the main antagonist of the series, at least for now.
There are still a lot of characters who have not shown their true side and powers, such as Riku, that might turn out to be the final boss.
2. Has Sesshomaru Become an Antagonist?
In episode 15, Sesshomaru agreed to team up with Kirinmaru to fight Inuyasha and Kagome while aiming to kill their child. He also allowed Zero to set fire to the forest where his children were without an ounce of sadness on his face.
All of these things make the audience question whether Sesshomaru has finally occupied the role of a villain.
Sesshomaru is not an antagonist or villain in Yashahime, as everything that he did was for the sole purpose of keeping his family from harm.
He inserted silver and gold pearls into his daughter’s eyes and left Towa and Setsuna in a forest behind a protective barrier.
Knowing that they would be safe, Sesshomaru falsely allied himself with Kirinmaru in order to trap Inuyasha and Kagome into Toga’s tomb, enabling them to survive.
Even after his daughters were discovered by Zero, he allowed her to set the forest to fire. The reason he did this was not because of his lack of care, but that he was confident in them and the pearls he inserted in their eyes.
As a result, both Towa and Setsuna ended up surviving and growing up to become powerful half-demons.
3. About Hanyô no Yashahime
Hanyô no Yashahime follows the adventures of Sesshomaru’s half-demon twin daughters, Towa and Setsuna. When they were young, the half-demon twins were separated from each other during a forest fire.
While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wandered into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan.
She is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sôta, and his family. Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened!
This allowed Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister!
Joined by Moroha, the daughter of InuYasha and Kagome, the three young girls travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.
