The universe of Star Wars is vast! Both literally and figuratively. It is home to some of the strongest and legendary characters like Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, the list just keeps going on, and I can keep raving about them all day.
But today is just about the Force-users. It’s just about the strongest Jedi and Sith of all time. I know the debates are never-ending, but I couldn’t stop myself from joining the party! So, let’s not waste anyone’s time, and let’s get to it!
10 Count Dooku | Darth Tyranus
“A failed apprentice makes for a foolish master.”
Count Dooku is one of the wisest and intelligent Force users of all time! Some of his best Force abilities included lightning, flight, choke, dash, and many more. With these, he could overpower his opponents with ease.
A gifted lightsaber duelist, he was the master of Makashi form and immensely talented with the Dun Möch form.
One of the best fighters of the galaxy, he was one of the very few who could fight Yoda! In Attack of the Clones, when the two fought, Count Dooku fought bravely before eventually losing.
9 Kylo Ren
“Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”
There’s nobody as cold and vicious as Kylo Ren in the sequel trilogy! The sheer number of people he’s killed. The way he deceived his father, Han Solo, and plunged the lightsaber through his chest, it’s as cold as it gets.
His connection with the Force is really strong, and it can be seen in the way he fights. All that untamed, raw power comes into play and is a sight to watch!
His ability to manifest and manipulate the telekinesis power is off the charts. He could manifest the force telekinesis in a battle to bring down his opponents and defend himself simultaneously. We’ve seen this in his battle with Luke Skywalker as well.
Besides these, he also possessed the power of telepathy and could easily invade and torture even the beings with the strongest will.
He came close to dying thrice but didn’t. Not even Rey Skywalker could kill him. In the end, he became one with the Force by sacrificing himself to save Rey Skywalker.
8 Ezra Bridger
“I want to become the Jedi you see in me—the one I don’t always see in myself.”
Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels was a Force-sensitive child from Lothal. Trained under Kanan Jarrus, he was exceptional when it came to his Force abilities, such as telekinesis, mind tricks, Force push, and more.
Ezra’s connection with the Force creatures was far beyond anything I had ever seen. Even without training, he was able to form a connection with the mystical Loth-wolf, Purrgils, the originators of hyperspace routes, and even entered the Void.
He had the ability to sense Force and always became aware of it in its presence. Though not naturally exceptional at the skills of combat and Force, he has always trained himself to become better at what he did.
7 Obi-Wan Kenobi
“Be mindful of your thoughts, Anakin, they betray you.”
He may not be the strongest, but Obi-Wan Kenobi was the wisest and greatest Jedi Master of all times after Yoda and Luke, and my most favorite character as well! Kenobi was the Jack of all trades—an exceptional duelist, a great student, and an even better master. He was a Jedi in the truest sense of the word.
Trained by Qui-Gon Jinn, he attained mastery over the combat style Form III and was well-versed with the force telekinesis. Like a true Jedi, he could conceal his feelings in the Force and was adept with the mind trick. He could avert physical confrontation when he wanted and could also control the minds of several beings!
During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan was the most feared Jedi General among the Separatists. As they said, “If you think you’re winning against Kenobi in a strategic battle, then you’ve already lost.”
He has always fought with valor and has brought down some of the biggest Sith Force users like Darth Maul and General Grievous. In the end, Obi-Wan meets his demise at the hands of Darth Vader. But even as he departs to become one with the Force, he leaves both his Skywalker students with a lesson.
6 Mace Windu
“How can it be a plan if it’s improvised?”
Creator of the lightsaber form. Grandmaster of the Jedi Order. Should I say more? The only Jedi master with a purple lightsaber, Mace Windu was an exceptional combatant and duelist.
His Force abilities included telekinesis, levitation, and even controlling minds! Also, the master of the Force technique Shatterpoint could see the weakness in any kind of object, and all he had to do was tap to crack it.
5 Luke Skywalker
“You can either profit by this, or be destroyed.”
Hailed as one of the greatest Force users in the entire galaxy, Luke Skywalker had one of the strongest Force abilities.
His abilities blow my mind every time I read about them. He had an enhanced sense of empathy which made him see through and reach his father, Darth Vader, aka Anakin Skywalker.
Besides the Force powers of telekinesis and levitation, he had excellent Force sensitivity. He also had premonitions and Force visions that would materialize into reality. It’s a gift that rarely any Force user gets, and only the strongest and greatest knew how to tap into it.
A great war strategist, he knew how to leverage his visions to build critical strategies that would help in war and battles. Above all, he was the master of Rey Skywalker, who took forward the legacy of the Chosen One. He trained and taught her to harness all that raw and untamed power to become a legend.
4 Yoda
“When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.”
One of the greatest Jedi masters of all time. Master of Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and even Anakin Skywalker (as a Force spirit), this legendary character’s strength is almost unparalleled!
With a midi-chlorian count of 18000, the Jedi has been known to practice the Force for 800 years! Nobody has ever come close to this duration. In these years, the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order built telekinesis, push, and levitation abilities.
But considering he’s been in the universe for generations, he could experience Force visions and see the future. He also possessed telepathy and could easily speak with Jedi temples across the galaxy and speak with the Jedi everywhere.
In the end, he had also mastered the ability to keep his consciousness alive even after his death. This meant he would technically be immortal and always be around for the Jedi Order and the galaxy.
3 Emperor Palpatine | Darth Sidious
“Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design.”
Darth Sidious is the strongest Sith Lord of all time. With a midi-chlorian count of 19000, Sidious’s signature Force ability was lightning. He was the Master of Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and the galaxy emperor.
He used his signature Force ability, lightning, to kill and torture his victims. Sidious was one of the greatest duelists who had attained mastery over all combat forms and could quickly shift from one form to another.
Sidious was also the alleged father of Anakin Skywalker, since he was the only one who could manipulate midi-chlorians to impregnate Shmi with Anakin.
Emperor Palpatine and Yoda have pretty often known to be almost equal. Earlier, Sidious’s powers would not have matched Yoda’s. But with time, Yoda attained saturation, and Sidious’s growth never stopped. He kept becoming more powerful and more potent.
What stands testament to this is the duel between the two. They both fought as equals, but towards the end, we knew it was technically a stalemate where Yoda couldn’t win, but Sidious had practically outpowered him.
2 Rey Skywalker
“I’ve seen your daily routine. You are not busy!”
She is the last Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker after he decided to stop the order with himself. Despite coming from a background of no training, she showcased a great display of the Force. She understood different languages and even piloted aircrafts with an ease that almost put Han Solo to shame.
With a midi-chlorian count of above 20,000, she has numerous Force abilities such as levitation, telekinesis, jump, lightning, and even healing.
Besides these, Rey could also communicate with the spirits of the dead Jedi, as we see in The Rise of Skywalker. It was not only an epic fan moment for me, but I interpreted it as a sign that showed she was truly worthy of being a Jedi despite having no background.
Of course, we later come to know that she is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, but that becomes an even better reason for her worth. The blood that runs in her is of the Dark Lord, but that doesn’t deter her from leaving the good side even once.
1 Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader
“One day, I will become the greatest Jedi ever. I will even learn how to stop people from dying.”
Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, is the strongest Jedi Force user of all time. With the highest midi-chlorian count ever known to the Jedi, he was the one who brought an end to Darth Sidious and thus the Sith Order.
He could read his opponents’ minds, control them and even torture them. Anakin Skywalker later turned to the dark side and brought down some of the best Jedi Force-users.
However, he was much more than just the Chosen One. He was compassionate and cared about things in a way no other Jedi did. Anakin was not only strong but an excellent leader since he was trained by the best strategist in the Republic army—Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi.
His signature Force ability was choke, and some of his other abilities are telekinesis and levitation. His Force sensitivity was relatively high, and because of this, he could sense when something was about to happen. This would keep him one step ahead of all his adversaries.
In the end, Anakin comes back to the light side after fighting his son Luke Skywalker and fulfills his prophecy by killing his master and Sith Lord Darth Sidious. However, Sidious’ lightning causes him a lot of damage, leading to him becoming one with the Force at last.
