Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for The Marvels this week, giving us a peak into the trio’s adventure to detangle their powers. The new trailer also gave us a look at Nick Fury and Goose’s return after Captain Marvel and our first look at two mystery characters – played by Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon.
While it was clear from the trailer that Ashton will play the film’s antagonist, the Parasite actor’s role is still unclear. But I have a few ideas about who the Korean actor could be playing in the upcoming MCU film.
In the trailer, we see Park calling an attack, but it is unclear whether it is on Carol and her companions or at Zaw Ashton’s Kree warrior. But floating rumors all point to him sticking to the Marvels’ side – so I will present two theories, one supporting the rumors and the other which does not.
Park could be playing Noh-Varr, a Kree soldier who was infected with insect DNA and later crash landed in Ms. Marvel’s city. After ending up on Earth, the Kree soldier joined the humans’ side against the Skrulls, and that way, The Marvels would be a great setup for Secret Invasion.
But if he is a devout Kree soldier, he will not stand by Danvers since she was the reason behind the collapse of the Supreme Intelligence. So, let’s go to the other side of the coin.
Some theories state Seo-joon will play Prince Yan of Aladana, who, in the comics, Carol helps and marries, if only for the sake of working around backward traditions. His princely look and supporting non-Kree-looking army much better support this idea. Plus, this puts him right back on the side of the titular trio, and I like it better that way.
Who do you think the Korean actor is playing in the upcoming 2023 film? If you don’t know, stay tuned to Cine Dope for more info on that front, or wait for The Marvels to release on November 30, 2023.
