It just took a single line for a new mystery to come up in Euphoria. In the end of episode 4 of season 2 of Euphoria, Fez’s friend Custer has paid him a visit.
The reason was to warn him about someone called Nelson – someone we’ve never heard of before.
Naturally, the question that haunted me (and I am sure I am not the only one) was this: Who on earth is Nelson? Did Euphoria just introduce a new character using that one line?
Or am I missing something? Though the name was an unfamiliar one (or so we think), it definitely made Fez worried since he looked visibly upset.
So, how about we find out who this mysterious ‘Nelson’ is and what is the deal with this man. Believe it or not, he is actually someone we’ve already met.
There is most likely no separate character called Nelson in Euphoria. HBO Max’s subtitles in the concerned scene of episode 4 was incorrect.
Custer was referring to Mouse, a druglord who Fez worked under previously. Mouse was killed by Ashtray in season 1 of Euphoria.
Is there really a Nelson in Euphoria?
The line that created all the controversy, as per the subtitles of HBO Max, is “Nelson’s baby mama showed up last night asking all types of stupid-a** questions.”
But, if you really listen to the line without the subtitles, it actually sounds quite a lot like “Mouse’s baby mama” instead of “Nelson’s baby mama”.
Custer’s words in this particular scene is not clear, but I don’t think there is anyone called Nelson. This is a case of subtitles being messed up, which created all the confusion.
To be honest, it does not make any sense otherwise. Fez seemed worried when Custer mentioned this guy and Mouse is a druglord who he used to work for before he was murdered by Ashtray in season 1.
Why would Fez be worried about someone who has not been introduced? That would be completely out of context and only make things strange. So, it only makes sense that Custer was talking about Mouse and not anyone called Nelson.
In other words, there is no Nelson. HBO Max should actually clear things out by saying if they messed up the subtitles in that particular scene in episode 4.
Who is Mouse and ‘Baby Mama’?
In season 1, Fez was dealing with Mouse for a long time and things got pretty serious as he continued to deal for kingpin. A police raid on Mouse’s supplies worsened things and Mouse threatened Fez.
However, Fez’s adopted younger brother Ashtray murdered Mouse and tormented his entire gang, that too with the help of just a hammer.
Mouse’s murder was not mentioned in the show after that and that made us assume that it has not been made public yet.
If we are right about Custer talking about Mouse’s baby mama, then that is something that will change pretty soon. Mouse’s baby mama most probably refers to his wife or girlfriend, and “baby mama” indicates that she is pregnant.
Keeping that in mind, Mouse’s baby mama refers to his wife or girlfriend who is carrying his child. Naturally, she is the first one to notice that Mouse is missing and is trying to track his murder down.
Fez is visibly worried, since it could only lead to him after all.
There is no indication as to who she is after, but we will get to know that soon. Fez and Ash now have another thing to worry about: this new ‘baby mama’.
There’s however a fan theory that suggests Mouse’s baby mama is actually Laurie. Remember that deadpan woman who gave Rue a bag full of drugs to sell? It’s not improbable, but let’s see.
