Ubisoft recently announced their second wave of DLCs for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and initiated it by dropping the Crossover Stories DLC for free on December 14, 2021. This DLC is available to both the AC Valhalla and AC Odyssey players who own the base game, on all platforms.
This first-ever crossover event of the Assassin’s Creed series contains two stories, “Those Who Are Treasured,” accessible in AC Odyssey, which precedes the story of “A Fated Encounter” in AC Valhalla. Players can assume the roles of Alexios or Kassandra for Odyssey’s story, but they will only encounter Kassandra in AC Valhalla’s story while playing as Eivor.
Kassandra is the canonical protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. She was a Spartan mercenary who operated in Greece during the Peloponnesian War in the 4th century BCE.
During her time as a mercenary, she fought against the Cult of Kosmos, an organization that intended to control the entire Greek world. Later, she opposed the Order of the Ancients, who sought to hunt her down for being a “Tainted One” and allying herself with Darius.
Kassandra was also the ancestor of Aya (from AC Origins), who co-founded the Hidden Ones in 47 BCE, a secret organization working in the shadows to protect the people from oppression and injustice and to safeguard their free will.
Eivor meets Kassandra during his investigation of a strange phenomenon on the Isle of Skye in the story “A Fated Encounter” of the new Crossover Stories DLC. Initially, the two engage in fierce close combat because of some misunderstandings, but they quickly befriend each other due to their shared knowledge and alliance of the Hidden Ones.
Is Kassandra more than 1000 years old in AC Valhalla?
Kassandra is around 1300 years old when she meets Eivor during 9th century CE in AC Valhalla Crossover Stories. She became immortal using the Staff of Hermes, an extremely powerful Piece of Eden given by her father, Pythagoras, in AC Odyssey.
Created by the Isu Hermes Trismegistus, the legendary Staff of Hermes grants its wielder with biological immortality. Hermes gave the Staff to Pythagoras, who later passed it down to Kassandra. After receiving it, she became “The Keeper” of the Staff and was tasked by Aletheia to protect it until she met the “Heir of the Memories.”
Kassandra handed down the Staff of Hermes to Layla Hassan, the “Heir of the Memories,” during the present-day events of AC Odyssey and passed away in 2018 CE, which makes her 2,476 years old at the time of death.
Kassandra outlived all the previous Assassin’s Creed protagonists and assassins, which indicates that we might get another crossover of her with other main characters such as Bayek, Aya, Ezio, Edward Kenway, and many others.
How to start the Kassandra story arc “A Fated Encounter” in AC Valhalla?
A Fated Encounter storyline can be started by talking to the “strange woman” near the Seer’s Hut, located in the northwest region of Ravensthorpe. Players must have a level 4 settlement and complete the quest “A Wise Friend” to begin this arc.
Note: Constructing the Seer’s Hut at Ravensthorpe will cost you 800 Supplies and 60 Raw Materials.
The strange woman goes by the name of Edyt, and she is an old friend of Valka. Edyt requests Eivor to save her people plagued by the nightmares at the Isle of Skye. Select the dialogue “Let’s go to Skye” to start the questline “A Fated Encounter.”
After the cutscene ends, you can start exploring the Isle of Skye and meet Kassandra by completing the initial quest.
